Hi guys,

I normally use dvd shrink(with nero) to copy actual dvds and everything is fine, the dvds play on every dvd player i have tried and ps2. Recently I have used divxTodvd to convert .avi movies to get dvd files. When I burn these movies usuing shrink/nero its burns fine, although they movies dont work on my ps2. Is there any specific reason this would happen?, has it happened to anyone else??, and is there anything i can do to fix it???

I also have been using Ulead DVD Movie Factory (trial) to burn movies, and they convert to dvd files and work on ps2 fine (although it can take up to 10 hours sometimes, really a pain in the ass compared to dvdshrink)

Thanks ahead of time
ALAN

This same thing happened to me. Basically I needed to author these my converted AVI files. I used TMPGEnc dvd author after I converted my files with the DivX to dvd converter. After this my problems with playing the files went away and were compatible with PS2. I don't know what exactly the problem was, but it went away once I did this.

hi aepaepaep,

----------

The AVI movies are downloaded torrents, usually dvd rips, or sometimes a movie recorded on camera from a theatre converted to AVI by someone.

it varies at the moment i have a few TDK 16x DVD+R, I have used many others though, Verbatim, Philips, Ritek, other Generic dvds (+r and -r). Ive burnt 150 dvds or so and this is the only problem ive had

i have Nero 6 Ultra Edition ( I believe thats right, i downloaded it so im not sure, thats what it says under start/all programs)

I dont think its anything to do with codecs because ive had no other problems, probably just something that shrink doesnt do by itself??

lets try something else ok.

can you download avicodec and load one of your AVI files into it.Either copy and paste the file properties into your next post or do a screen capture and load the img file on to AD for a looksy.

then maybe we can direct you to your next move

Yes you did it fine and the files look ok, What media are you using as DivX to dvd shouldnt have a problem with the conversion to mpeg2.Burning shouldnt be an issue but since you are using Nero can you supply a Nero log next as well for deciphering.......

should be able to tell from the log if there are any out standing issues with your pc, and then we will look at the media, then the files (they could be corrupt)
