I went to this store here and bought some generic(unbranded) DVD-Rs and when i checked the media ids of those dvds, they were TY02. so i was wondering, can media ids be faked or are these things the real deal?
thanks in advance to those who'll reply! i appreciate the info!
more likely than not, they are FAKE Taiyo Yudens...check here in my thread in my 1st post to verify authenticity...for TYG02s, inner hub reading will read GG000xxx where xxx is the batch number :)
if you don't see this inner hub coding, YOU GOT YOURSELF SOME FAKES...MID codes (found from dvd identifier programs) are EASILY faked and most prevalent on Taiyo Yudens...if it sounds too good to be true (for the price) often times it is FAKE~
Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03
Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

hmm... come to think of it, Php9 (~$0.16) IS really cheap, right?
Now i have a question, does anyone know where i can get some genuine TY0x or Verbs or Maxells here in the Philippines? The Verbatims i bought from the same store where CMC MAGs.
did you go online and see if any of the online stores import to your country? I don't know what else to tell you but it's a worth a try! do a google search...... or you can try the leading manufactures of computers (online) to buy your DVDs..... that's a try, too.
