Okay.... today I decided to try to change my psp's lcd. (Other one cracked)

So I inserted the fat cable, and the thin cable, and the backlight won't work. I can see in alot of light, that the lcd comes on and functions great, but the backlight is messed up.

Could it be the connection? The black clip is still there actully, holding to backlight connection.

I dunno what the problem is. I HIGHLY doubt it is the backlight itself.

Funny thing is, two days ago, i tested a backlight on the psp by itself, and it lit up!

Please help! I need this done by tomorrow...

I'm crying right now!!! :'(

Any.... solutions? Maybe?

WAAAAHHH!!!!!

I've taken my PSP apart before to change motherboards, so I know how you must be freaking out... I broke the motherboard on my white PSP a while ago and I totally flipped. Just go back inside and the backlight ribbon cable is the skinnier one. Just make sure the connection is snug and the little white clippy thing on the box plug is clipped tighly. Yes, I know, I know... you're going to have to take it apart again. I hate doing that. I have a feeling that's your PSP's problem tho. Other than that, the backlight still works if it's lighting up. It's either working or not, you know? So open 'er back up and check your connections.

Peace.

I myself am thinking of replacing my LCD screen, I have a few dead pixels and I am compulsive about scratches and jazz like that. How many of you guys have done it and how easy/hard is it? Any input would be great.

Backlight is different from LCD, the backlight cannot get scratched without opening up your PSP System, your faceplate must simply be scratched up. Here, I made this for you.

So you may want to but a new faceplate, they run anywhere from 25.00-45.00, and why you're added, there are some nice colors out there also.

If you are still thinking about selling the LCD part, can I buy it off of you? I have a 2.00 system in desperate need of backlight and lcd!

And I'll tell you how to connect/disconnect the LCD if you still want to know. ;)

Thanks alot! Reply back please!

uBlade, I know that scratches form on the faceplate and not the screen, I guess I worded that wrong. I have some dead pixels, hot actually, they're white, and that's why I want to replace the LCD. I just have a fetish about keeping scratches, smudges and that kind of think off my viewing window. As to replacing and selling it to you, I would definitely sell it to you if I replace it, but I don't know how to do it, and I have never done anything more than opening up my CD player to fix an audio connection. Is it elementary stuff or should I get some real knowledge of circuits and that kind of thing. Any input from you guys is apprectiated.
Also, uBlade, do you have an AIM account?

Thanks

No, sorry, AIM won't allow me to create an account for some reason.

But however, I do have an MSN and a YAHOO.

Okay... this site is perfect for LCD replacment instructions. I used it once actully.

http://www.llamma.com/PSP/PSPTearDown.htm

Everything you need to know is there. Just note, if you are going to replace your LCD, just order your lcd and make sure that the backlight is ATTACHED already.

If it isn't you may have a difficulty installing your new lcd to your old backlight, it can become some what of a pain in the a&@!

But honestly, the best site for the LCD I have expiereced is Divine.cn, only problem is, that you can only order the lcd and the backlight seperately. But the LCD is only 35 USD!

But honestly, if you take your time and do ALL of the instructions, replacing the PSP LCD is easy as taking a shower. (Where'd that come from? :-/)

Okay, if you are expierecend in electronics, then you can replace the new lcd with the old backlight, but keep in mind. THe backlight suface scratches VERY easily.

Okay, so that's that, and that's said. If you don't mind, can you take a photo of your psp, showing the dead pixels if you can? Thanks!

So get back to me! ;)

Alrite ublade, I tried taking a pic of the screen but my camera sucks and I can't figure out how to get a good pic of the screen. There are about 7-8 hot pixels, mostly on the left side of the screen. It isn't that bad in daylight or room light but when watching a movie or playing a game in total darkness they are prevalent.

As of now I think that I'll wait to change the backlight and faceplate, I need to build up some courage (and some cash). If you know a reliable place that does this sort of thing let me know, that would be great.

Joeva, Llamma.com has stock PSP faceplates. I guess they dismantle a few PSPs and sell them for parts. If I recall correctly they are quite pricey, 'bout 60 bucks I think.
