So I am ripping apart this computer to provide help for the beast I am assembling. I must start with a fresh OS on my new HD and wondering how to carry my Internet Explorer settings, especially favorites, to my fresh install. Is there a file to copy from here and paste to the new, or a 3rd party application?
Thanks in advance.
__edit__ I copied all the links that show up in my Windows explorer to my portable drive hoping to just paste them into the same favorites folder in the new build that I took them out of in the old.
Does anyone know if this works well or if other means are better?

That's how I do it. Just copy the Favorites folder from your Documents and Settings folder under the login you use, to the new one when it's finished.

Thanks for the reply, I realized it was somewhat of a NOOB question after I asked, I just had a blond moment. I am a pessimist and thought there would be import/ export problems until I started the thread and began to think clearly once I seen my words on paper, not just a jumble in my head.

It's very easy to export your favorites in FireFox, it's right there in the favorites menu.

As for extentions, you gotta go:
start/my computer/c:/documents and settings/current user/application data/mozilla/profiles/

and then it's in a randomly generated folder that has a weird name.
Keeping your extentions and settings is as simple as backing up that folder, however, it's not GUARANTEED they will work upon restoring. However, I've never had them fail.

Thanks to all who helped and kept this thread alive. As to FireFox, I've no clue, glad someone who did spoke up. As for my original problem it was just as easy as saving everything in the favorites folder to disc, then putting it on my new setup. Everything works great, C ya laterz

Word.

I actually managed to corrupt my profile once, and had to wipe it, and that's where it is. You keep all your favorites and stuff tho. I'm considering delic.io.us or whatever it's called, anyone a user?

Another good way to restore extensions and bookmarks in Firefox, is to:

1. Download the extensions/themes to a folder by right clicking them and saving the link. Install thru Firefox = File - Open File.

2. Go to Bookmarks, Manage Bookmarks. File - Export, save the html file to a folder.

That way, you won't have to go back to the site and sort thru all the things you want to have back. As mentioned, some profiles when corrupted are unrecoverable..now you have another way of getting your stuff back fast.

I'm too lazy to take pictures and post them but this case

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811196019

The huge typhoon fan on the front is blue LED light just like the Zalman, 2 side fans on the clear panel, and the rear fan. Neat little light show to go with performance.

Thanks for the FireFox tips, helpful if I ever want to change over.
I seriously thought about it but since yahoo browser now comes with the "tab" system of filing open pages (that shouldve been copywritten) I think I'll stay with the "noob" toolbars I am familiar with.
