dvd rebuilder is supposed to be the best compression program - i have never used it but this is what i have read from several people.
dvd shrink gives good results so i use that.
clone dvd2 is also good & sometimes i use it when shrink is unable to back up later disc due to copy protection.

here are just a few programs that I use:

AnyDVD
CloneDVD2
DVDRebuilder Pro/CCE/ProCoder2
DVDRemake
DVDShrink
DVDFab Plat.
DVDDecrypter
all the VSO software (ConvertXToDVD, Blindwrite, PhotoDVD, IMageResizer, CopyToDVD)
Nero
ImgBurn
DVDCopy4
Voblanker
MyDVD
Smartripper
DVDInfoPro
DVDIdentifier
DVD X Copy (never use it again! it's too old and there are better programs out there now!)

these are the bulk of what I use. my favorites are:
AnyDVD
CloneDVD2
DVDRemake Pro
DVDRebuilder Pro
And all the VSO programs!
can't go wrong there!

As far as compressing ISO I think DVDShrink is easiest to use and is free. Only an opinion. Find file on computer, set level of compression, find target drive, done. Also has advanced options once you are used to the program.
