are the actual swap magic discs cds or dvds

so they give you a cd that boots cd's and a dvd that boots dvds?

one of my friends backed up swap magic 3.6 for me and i burned the cd one onto a CD-R
whenever i put the cd into my ps2 it give me the red screen that tells me that it isn't a ps or ps2 disc

is there probably something wrong with the backup, or will swapmagic nowt work on my system
(i'd like to make sure it works before i spend money on it)

Both - you use the CD for the CD games, and DVD for the DVD games

and do any of you know how i can get swap magic besides on the net
i don't have a credit card or paypal account so i can't order it

You'll have to order it off the net .. Unless you live near a store that sells mods or modding supplies...

What ver of PS2 do you have? There are other ways to mod a PS2 without having to order supplies on the net and since you have a friend with Swap magic you're golden...

Fat Older PS2's with a Hard Drive, PS2 Network Adaptor, and Memory Card Exploit can run games from a Hard Drive... Your Friend could make you the exploit...

other than that... you'd need to order off the net

i guess if worst comes to worst, i can mail him my memory card
