It would help if you gave us a little bit more of info.
We dont know what you did so far.
But you should be able o back it up using AnyDVD wich have a 21 day trial http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html .
And using dvdfabdecrypter. You can get it from here http://209.172.35.173/download/DVDFabDecrypter29.exe .
Good luck

I tried DVDfab and it took 2hours to finish then I tried to put thoes results though VOBblanker and had no luck there either .I don't think the file was compleated by DVDFab. I'm at a loss . My DVDFab was the latest version. Sony stikes again. I have already used up my 21 day free trial of AnyDVD. The disc is new out of the box.So far this is a first I have come across that I can't back up.HELP. Where are the smart guys? I will attempt to get move info.Thanks.

@Rick6,

Two hours is way too long, there are two possible causes for this that I at present can think of...

1) IDE devices set to operate in PIO mode. If you haven't already, check to make sure all your drives are set to operate in DMA mode.

Although version 2.9.7.6 (04/14/2006) of DVDFab includes:
Fix: "Enable DMA" window will be shown when DMA is already enabled, in certain cases.

If you need a guide that will take you thru the process, just click the link;
http://www.onthegosoft.com/dma_setting_nt.htm

2) There could possibly be something wrong with the disk, even though the disk is new and may play fine, you could have a bad press, in this case return it and exchange it for another.

You state that you used DVDFab, but had no luck with it, if you used version 2.9.7.7, then that could be the problem. There is currently a beta version out that should be used for this movie... see below.

2.9.7.9 Beta (05/21/2006)
New: Added support for a new Sony ARccOS protection as found on "Freedomland" (US).

You can get it here;
http://www.dvdidle.com/DVDFabDecrypter29.exe

Use this version of DVDFab, then open the files ripped to your HDD using DVD shrink and process as usual. I suggest you reauthor the DVD to backup just the main movie and 5.1 english audio channel. If you just can't get this movie ripped to your HDD using the beta version of DVDFab, then you may have a bad disk, return it and exchange it for another.

Make sure you're using the current version of anydvd 5.9.6.1, if not get it here;
http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html

Anydvd now comes with a ripper that can be used for DVDs that tend to be a problem. The ripper can be accessed by right clicking on the red fox in your task bar, use the ripper to get the video files to your hard drive, once there on your hard drive you can open them using DVD shrink (not DVD decrypter) by using the open files tab and browse to the VIDEO_TS folder created by the ripper. Once shrink opens the files, you should be able the proceed as usual using shrink to produce a backup, again as I suggested above, reauthor the DVD to backup just the main movie and 5.1 english audio channel.

Cheers:)

Tried AnyDVD v 5.9.6.1(new version) also but nada. Then i got DVDfab v 2.9.7.7 was not working so I got the updated v 2.9.7.9
I got it to the HD but when I go to open it, shrink tells me invalid data on vts 01 (something like that).

Then I used dvd region + css free in the background with shrink and BAM!! done with no problems.

Kicked the Puppet in the arse. Thanks Ya'll

Ok. FreedomLand as most of you know has had an upgrade. Slysoft AnyDVD as you know, also has had an upgrade. As soon as you upgrade AnyDVD to 5.9.6.1 or higher, it will assist DVD Decrypter in copyng the movie to your hard drive. Now I had a problem running it thru DVD Shrink. It kept telling me invalid file in VTS_02_04.
I used VOB Blanker to take care of this problem. It is kinda tricky but not impossible. When you open the movie thru VOB Blanker, you will highlight VTS_02 File. On tghe bottom it will show you 2 files, one that its obviously the movie since the duration time is longer than an hour and the .15 seconds one underneath. "BY BLANKING THE SECOND .15 SECS FILE.....IT WILL NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM!" Ok, that being said, I can continue. You have to double click the first file (the main movie file with the long duration)Then it will open up a new screen and on that screen you will see a lot of files and you will need to blank out all the files that have a .15 second duration. Once you blank all those out, go ahead and hit the process button. After it is done, you can shrink it and burn it with no problems. Good Luck

@MR1234 I did something similar but I just set VOB Blanker to "Auto Mode" which takes care of any problems on this DVD. I then run the file through Nero recode2 for back up to disc. "Auto Mode" saves you the steps of actually editing the file yourself.:P

@N2DVD: Thanks for the tip N2. I've been using this program for like 4 months now,and I have been guiding myself based on instructions from the forums. I have never dared to play with it too much, but if you say that works and helps cut time down then good deal. Thanks. I'll give it a try next tuesday when new movies come out
