maxconsole.net has it up saying its confirmed. Pretty damn reliable source. Xbox-scene, qj.net, and several others. I'd say you can pretty much count on it.

the thing is, is it worth it.
I have 2.6 and i honestly dont play games that much, i just use it for media. but for say 50 bucks for the chip and then 20 to install it. (lets just say) i dont think its worth it. just my 2cents
30 gig crappy hp laptop
broken 24x cd burner
usb 1.1
netgear wireless card
(everybody else has the cool shit)
2.6 PSP W/ 2gb stick!

well..most ppl use psp for games... otherwise u'd get a portable media player with a bigger storage (20gb+)
*edit*
im really concerned about price...i can't imagine it being more xpensive than 200...cuz i'd rather buy a 1.5 lol

Whats with all the concern for price? The most expensive mod chip Ive ever purchased was the gamecube chip for 70 bucks. Everything else has been below that price and quite frankly, 70 bucks is well worth it. Add up the price of all the games and the free software that you can use and its a no brainer.

Ok guys, don't let me burst this bubble of joy. I just want to state a few things here, after doing some research on the "PSP ModChip".
- After looking at several websites and forums about the topic, it is very arguable that this is possibly (and I do stress the word possibly) fake.
Few reasons for that being:
Photoshop reveals that if you zoom in (quite a bit) on one of the chips, there is actually a "blotched" out portion of the chip. (You do have to look closely)
- Manufacturer? URL? Any info from the actual developers? None.
Yes, I am well aware that Actel does sell blank, flashable chips to manufacturers for many numerous uses, but, wouldn't there be an actual label on the chip itself?
(The picture is rather blurry, but, zooming in on the original image didn't turn out to be as clear as I had wanted it to.)
Kinda fishy; from what I understand, chips must have some sort of identification on them. This one clearly does not. BUT, this does not mean that I am bashing the concept of a mod-chip for the PSP. Please, do not get me wrong. If this is an actual true development, then major props to whomever created it. I am just simply showing some extra information that I had dug up on the subject.
Bottom line is: Is it true? Is it fake? I myself am actually leaning towards fake. I am not 100% sure if it is real or not.

The othet thing is. There have been like two other mod-chips. Yet none of them progressed after the producer got his time to shine...

Look at that. Chip is announced by several legitimate sites that have announced xbox, ps2, and gamecube chips for years (all of which turned out to be true) and you immediatly go fishing for proof that its fake. I'll still be laughing when i switching between 2.7 and 1.5 firmware or better!, some kind of custom firmware.

ps2nfo have said that its 100 percent real Quote: Installation has been optimized to fit entirely inside PSP, this opens up the possibility to run unsigned homebrew code on the latest PSP systems. More info will be available next week! This is 100% real just in case you had any doubts.
we have always said check the trusted sites, and they are all backing up and validifying this chip. I guess we'll see. Its not triple bs fault he's doubting it. There were rumours of chips before.
But I must say that I think I am going to back this one. I was just reading up on it, and it may very well be legit.

Hey now, I'm not exactly saying, "This is fake, do not believe it!" so please, do not go on bashing me about it. I just posted a few things that I have researched about the chip. If it is real, then that's awesome; I will be looking forward to purchasing it. If it is fake, then, I don't want to be the one to say, "I told you so." =P
Don't jump too quick on the gun to flame my research; it's not what I was implying.
