I've searched quite a bit to get the answer to this question but I haven't had much success.
I'm wondering how to burn DVDs that can be played on DVD players using
DVD shrink cause, for now I can only play them on other PCs.
I'd highly appreciate an answer to my question and I hope that I was clear.
a dvd that you back up with shrink should work on a stand alone player.
if not playing, it could be that the player doesn't play DVDR or it could be that the dvd player doesnt like the brand of media you are using either brand or format - i.e. DVD-RDVD+R, some dvd players will only play one or the other where as some will play both.
It's all about compatability. A DVD-RW drive should play it's own backups on the pc,and they should be near original quality.
After that,stand alone players/other pc drives/and game consoles factor in.
Your pcs play it:
Ok,those backups should be good,just that stand alone/s you're trying them in may be picky. Here's the likely culprits:
1)Format-Try the opposite. Depending on your burner's brand name and model #,try booktyping the plus format to dvd-rom.Make sure it's quality media.
2) Media quality. Stand alone players can pick out the low quality manufacturers.That's why quality media is critical.
3) Burn speed: 4x is very safe.Some players may prefer slower or faster than the 4x.
4) Burner quality: Yes,some of the lower quality brand names of DVD-RW drives will have a lower compatability rate for stand alone players.Make sure firmware is up to date.
5) Burn program. Stand alone players can have trouble with certain burn engines.DVD Shrink doesn't burn.It can autoburn with: Nero/copytodvd/dvd decrypter/and maybe IMGburn.
6) Dirty laser lens. The drive/s that don't recognize backups-and you know the backups are ok-just may need a lens cleaning disc run through. This is a last resort before replacement.
There's no set fix for this issue.That's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to stand alone compatability.There's a lot more possibilities.
Your issue sounds like a No disc inserted error. Also known as Ilegal disc/dirty disc/wrong region/wrong format errors. The drives that show this error,means something about your backups that they don't like.Hopefully trying #1 or #2 takes care of it.
Also let us know the brand name and model# of your DVD-RW drive. We may be able to tell you if it has the booktyping capability,and see if there's a newer firmware update for it.
I 'm sorry i don't know the name of my dvd player and i can't find it.
But is it possible that since i bought the blank DVDs in America and my DVD player in France, that the dvd player can't play American DVDs?
Definitely a problem. USA is NTSC format. Britain,and a lot of europe is Pal format.France uses Secam. The definitions are in the glossary tab,on the top of the page.Or click on blue links.
Region code also a difference.USA is region1,not sure of france.
Dvd shrink can set dvd backups as region free. You still have PAL, NTSC,and Secam formats to deal with.
Blank dvds can be burned anywhere,using any region code,or pal ntsc format. Original dvd's are another story.
Where's your dvd-rw drive from? And what is the brand name and model# of it? Just making sure if it's a region1 drive or not.

By visually looking at the original discs,you may be able to see logos like NTSC , PAL , or SECAM ,on the covers.
This is a great mystery to me, but there is a simple solution! Just buy a newer DVD player. If the DVD plays on PC, then it will for sure play on a newer DVD player, even though it may not play on an older DVD player. The best one will be DVD-RW player, not DVD-R player.
Here is my observation:
1. Any commercially available DVD will play on any (new/old) DVD player.
2. If DVD is copy-protected, a modified copy by DVDFab, VobBlanker, (the best two free combination IMHO), and DVDShrink WITHOUT shrink usually runs on older DVD players, but if shrunk by DVDShrink, it will no longer play on an older DVD player; however, it will still play on a newer one.
3. The mystery is that the original runs but the copy does not run on an older DVD player. The only logical conclusion is that it is a software problem somewhere in ripping, reencoding, and burning.
I am still waiting for a solution to this mystery.
