Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me out here I'm sort of a newbie on this burning stuff first I wanted to know if I could burn movies that I had downloaded from like bitcomet and others using my original drives E.drive(dvdrom) D.drive(cdr) instead of having to go out and buying a DVD burner? And where should I start first if I could do that. I know I need to do some converting and stuff I had tryed before a while back but gave up and just watched the movies on my computer but I really want to burn the movies onto a DVDr and I have a whole lot of those that I bought when I thought that I could do it but that never happen. So any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks

Kim

Those types of files are usually DivX AVI, so they would need to be converted before they would be DVD compatible. Depending on how comfortable you are with this, it may be relatively easy, or very hard to get right.
You can burn VCDs with your CD-R burner, but not DVD. The size of these discs also makes the transfer that much harder. IMO you should think about getting a DVD burner for $30-50 and start learning how to make DVD's instead of VCD. You won't be disappointed.

I agree; DVD is the way to go. Here is a guide for a program, for when you get a burner, to take you from downloaded file to finished DVD. I tried a previous version and was impressed with its speed, quality and ease of use:http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/vso_convertxtodvd_guide.cfm

No you didn't do anything wrong, just read the rules and be careful how you word your questions and statements. Jigen and mistycat got you squared away, happy burning.
