Let me apologize in advance. I don't have all the information needed, being that I'm at work. However, I have faith that someone will be able to help. I'm having trouble burning some movies. Some of them burn fine, but during playback, the movie (X-Men 1.5) just stops, and will start at the begining when I push play again (I hope you understand). Others (Fantasic Four and others) will begin to burn and then I get an error (sorry I don't have it now, I can put it on later). What struck me as strange was the error said something about Windows NT and I have XP. I don't think the error was even from DVD Shrink. BTW I use DVD Fab Decrypter, then VOB Blanker, then Shrink to compress (if needed) and burn. I use Sony or genuine TY DVD+R's set to DVD-ROM with my BenQ. Any ideas would be great. Is it possible I have a virus, or did Windows do something strange in their last update? Thanks in advance.

What program are you using to burn the disks? If it's Nero, post the last section of the Nero History file that begins something like:

===== Nero Burning ROM Nero History =====
your program serial number

Omit the serial number and your name prior to posting.

The path to the history file usually is:

Nero 6: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory
Nero 7: Program Files>Nero>Nero7>Core>NeroHistory

Post the log of whatever program you're using for burning if possible.

Have you checked to see if your burner firmware is up to date?

Yes it's Nero, and yes, my firmware is up-to-date. Here you go. Thanks for the response. BTW, I can't seem to get Recode to install, any ideas?

A couple of things standout.

First, your version of Nero is a little out of date. Since Recode won't install as well, I think a fresh reinstall is in order. 6.6.0.18 is the best version for Nero 6. Nero 6 Reloaded is problematic. Before you install 6.6.0.18, you need to clean out your Nero and its registry items, drivers, etc. Download the Nero General Clean Tool and run that first.

http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/General_Clean_Tool.html

Next download and install 6.6.0.18:

http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php

Nero didn't ID the disk media you were using either which was odd (unless I overlooked it).

Your burn speed of 2.4X might be a little slow depending on the media being used. Some of the newer media won't burn well at 2.4X for whatever reason. What speed media was it? What brand?

You might try burning with DVD Decrypter instead of Nero. If DVD Decrypter is installed that target option should be available in DVD Shrink as well.

Your BenQ firmware is somewhat out of date. You have version BSMB. The latest is BSPB located here:

Hello, I updated Nero, however I checked with BenQ and their latest firmware is BSMB. I don't know why your site would show a more recent release than BenQ Support, that makes me nervous about downloading it. Also, I uninstalled and reinstalled DVDFab, vobBlanker, and Shrink. I'll try again with all this and hope for the best. If you think of anything just let me know. Thanks again. I'll keep you posted.

Okay, it still failed, but this time it didn't start writing (like it did before) and make a coaster. It gave me this error, Error:\nCannot connect TRF. I'm really stumped. Any ideas?

The firmware link is back to BenQ support at BenQ.com. They may not keep the frontend of their support site up to date. I don't know. This is the site most of us use to keep up to date with most burners. It's a central collection site for firmware.

I kinda sorta said not to update to Nero Reloaded 6.6.1.4. That's why I gave you the link to the 6.6.0.18 firmware that's very stable. Whether this is the problem in this case, I don't know. We advise everyone to forget this version of Nero and go back to 6.6.0.18.

This version doesn't play well with Shrink.

Either select Burn with DVD Decrypter as the DVD Shrink output target or output an ISO file with Shrink and then burn that with Nero, DVD Decrypter, or ImgBurn.

hello vicenton,

Are you asking me about DVD players? If so just send me a private message and I'll be glad to respond to you. However to do so in this thread would be confusing to others that might be trying to follow and respond to it. Only one topic/problem per thread is allowed.

Sorry, I guess read it too fast, it's been a crazy day. Just for fun I thought I would try writing with DVD Clone, which seems to have worked. Sorry about not trying with Decrypter, I didn't understand at first because I've never done it that way, but I'll give that a try, too. I just don't know why it would stop all of a sudden, before I updated Nero. Thanks for sticking it through with me, let me know if you think of anything else.
