somebody help me out here, sometimes when i try to use dvdfab express on certain movie, both old and new,it does everything except burn the movie, a message, comes up sayong "failed to burn dvd",how comes,i thought fab express could bypass any movie, what should i do?
The problem, based on your statement, does not appear to be caused by dvdfab express. It looks like dvdfab has no problem with ripping/decrypting/and transcoding the movie, it's the burn phase that's the issue.
There are quite a few reasons why the burning phase may be failing:
1) Write speed.
Never have your burning application set for MAX, manually set it to 4X or no greater than 1/2 the rated speed of the media.
2) Brand of media used.
Try not to use poor quality media (you know what they say about garbage in, it equals garbage out), stick to a Sony, verbatim, TYs..etc..look for made in Japan on the packaging.
3) Your burner's firmware may be out of date and therefore your burner may not have the correct write strategy for the brand of media you're using.
Make sure your burner's firmware is upto date, updates add additional media compatibility and possible drive performance enhancements. You can use the utility provided from the link to check what version is currently installed, download and run it to display model# and firmware version.
Once you know what version is installed, click on the link below to check if an update is available, enter the burner's model# in the search field and click search, if an update is available just click on it to get it, then run the file to install the update.
You may be burning too close to the disk's outer edge, have DVDFab express create smaller custom file sizes of 4300MB.
5) You may be multitasking while the burning process is in progress.
While the burning process is in progress try not to do anything with the computer, just let the process complete.
6) Depending on the error your getting, you could have another application running that may be conflicting with dvdfab burning application.
When burning, shut down any unnecessary applications, having additional apps running during the burning process could interfere with it and possibly cause it to fail.
7) You could have one or more IDE devices set to operate at the slower PIO mode.
Set all of your IDE devices to operate in DMA mode to get the best possible performance. Here's a guide if needed..
Hi topatop
Sounds like it could be a combo of a few things:
°Media - which are you using and what's the rated speed? (i.e. Sony -r 8x)
°What speed are you trying to burn at?
°Is your drives firmware up to date? What's the make & model of the drive? To check the firmware version in xp sp2 look here under system. (all the way to the right in this pic the version is 1.02)
editted to add: dang I'm very sloow tonite :) Hi Johnl123
