Well, for many of you this movie is going to be a challenge. If you are burning to DVD-9 then you won't have a problem, however, if you are burning to DVD-5 you will need to use VobBlanker or PgcEdit to remove unwanted files.

Basically, after you bypass the puppet lock and a few more annoyances you will not be able to shrink to a DVD-5 with any quality.

What I did:
Run DVDFab Decrypter. Then open VobBlanker and remove unwanted items. Then I opened up Nero Recode 2 (you may also use Shrink if you do not have Nero Recode). I then burned.

Make sure to check your image on your computer before burning. I lost 2 DVD?s because I am not that familiar with VobBlanker. I used help from alkohol with his guide found here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/334154

Thanks alkohol! Without your help I may have ruined a few more DVD's

Release dates vary around the world and stores get the movies weeks before they're released. Why? So they prepare, stock, and sell 'em.

Anyway--wouldn't AnyDVD take care of this disc by its lonesome?

I thought this movie blew the first one away. Of course I am into sci-fi thrillers. Many people may say that they didn't like it. But...Most of them didn't like the first one either!

What was the "Movie Only" compression percentage before vobblanker?

I didn't want to re-author the movie, but in full backup (because I like the menue) the movie could not be backed up on a DVD-5. However, if you use Nero Recode you could back up the movie. However, even recode would not allow you to back it up with a percentage less than 54% (I believe)! That is why I used VobBlanker to get rid of some of the previews & FBI warnings. By using VobBlanker I was able to copy the movie to a DVD-5 at 100%. Of course the menus were at a higher ratio.

To be honest with you, I have not had a problem as severe as this for quite a while. They are putting a bunch of stuff on the DVD's that make it harder to back up. This one in particular took me three times with VobBlanker before I got it. Of course I have never used VobBlanker before this!

I hope that answered your question.

Cool... DVDRebuilder handles 50% range well! Looks like I'll give this one the DVD-RB/CCE treatment!!!

This method worked perfectly for me..mostly. I used dvdfab decrypter, then VOB blanker, and Nero recode..I couldn't use shrink? Probably did something wrong but when I went to open the video_ts folder I created shrink didn't recognize? But luckily Nero recode worked like a charm. This method I successfully copied underworld evolution, Firewall, and Freedom land.

Forgot to mention...I only copied the MOVIE ONLY for FREEDOMLAND, movie and menus for UNDERWORLD EVO, and the whole disc for FIREWALL, BUT...Firewall gets kinda pixelaly(not a real word) towards the end for about 2 minutes, so it might be better just to back up the movie only? I don't know..I am pretty new to this stuff too.

A "1st" AnyDVD's 5.9.6.2 has got to be the update of all updates, the best I've seen thus far. I purchased "Underworld Revolution" "FireWall" "Running Scared" & "Glory Road" all "Full Screen" with the acception of "Running Scared". The remarkable thing here is I was able to back-up "Underworld Revo" as well as "Glory Road" using just AnyDVD 5.9.6.2 & Nero 7 Recode2? Considering all of the encryption found on these two DVD's this feat was never possible previously without the use of SHRINK 3.2 VOB Blanker. I reiterate I used nothing but these two prgrams to my total amazement. Backing them each up to standard 4.7GB blank DVD disc. AnyDVD has again updated to 5.9.6.3 which I have not downloaded yet and at this point "For What"? SlySoft has truly outdone themselves. I read here syxguns comments of how he accomplished backing up "Underworld Revo" which would be similar if not the same path I would have taken to successfully back up this disc, but I am here to tell you, not anymore. AnyDVD has made this process easier than I've ever seen before. Again Amazing!:P

I tried a dozen times to run this movie through dvd fab. But it gets so far then it stops. It doesen't tell me what the problem is. It just stops. I tried running it through the entire disc and then just the movie itself and nothing. If anybody could help me it would be appreciated.

@ N2DVD-

I have one question about the way you copied the movie. What was the movie % rate when you used Nero Recode2?

I could not get the rate with all of the extra's less than 46%. The way I copied it I was able to get the movie at 100% and the menus at 48%. By doing this I have a better quality backup. I guess it wouldn't matter if you don't have a big screen TV.

Thanks for any reply N2DVD.

Hey here's a question for you
I had AnyDVD 5.9.6.3
everything updated
ripped it without problems
played fine off the hard drive
but after I encoded down to 4.7 gb using rebuilder
It doesn't play properly
there is a 1 or 2 minute portion which turned into a single frame 1 hour and 17 mins into the movie
the same type of thing also happened on hostel

anyone know what causes this?
Thanks

Caleb777 I'm new to the forum, but just got Underworld: Evolution I have copied it and hostel with no problems at all using DVDShrink and AnyDVD 5.9.6.3. Just go for it. It does work. Now, let me add, that I do the main movies only and not anything else. I had no trouble at all with just the movies.
