@daman1

You can do movie only with AnyDVD Shrink burn with Nero and get 100% no compression. There's a lot of junk on the disc. 51% hardly worth the burn. If I wanted everything then this is worth a DL disc.

FWIW, after using Decrypter I opened the file up in Shrink and re-authored it.

I added the movie and about 4 or 5 special feature clips to the end of the movie. I like to have at least 60-70% compression at minimum. Anything lower than that and I only burn the movie and leave off all the extras.

So, if you want better quality and you haven't tried to re-author in DVD Shrink, give it a try. It's really easy. All you have to do is drag-and-drop what you want.

I know most of you guys already know all this stuff.

I just figured I would share my M.O. I end up doing this a lot because if you just hit "Full Disc" you end up with a compression rate down in the 50s for a lot of movies. Some movies have 90 minutes of BS and sometimes I don't want all that extra crap.

Hi guys! I was able to backup Underworld Evolution with DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.7.9 and DVD Shrink. But I would like to make a full backup now that I have a dual layer burner and without using AnyDVD. Any sugestions?

@restgarc

Why would you not want to use AnyDVD? It doesn't degrade the disc or anything. It does make all the other back up options easy for doing DL discs. You are just basically copying your own original.

I agree that AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 work the best out of anything. I've used that combination for the last 6 months, with the lastest versions ofcourse as time went on and I've never had any problems with any DVDs including the lastest new ones such as Underworld Evolution and When a Stranger calls. To be fair, the reason why people don't try to find other ways of achieving the same thing is the save money after all AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 does cost $59US for the licenses. Just the answer the question above as to why somebody would be trying to do this without AnyDVD. Thanks.

OK I used the advice on this thread when trying to copy Underworld Evolution. I used DVDFab Decrypter and VobBlanker. Next I used DVD Shrink. I got all the way through the encoding process but when I put a blank disc in it would not read the disc. I tried another brand of disc and it wouldn't read it either. These discs work EVERY single time except I can't get them to work with Underworld. This is my first time using the above programs besides DVD Shrink. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is happening? I would really appreciate the help.

If you have more than one DVD RW drive then make sure that you have the right drive selected as destination. You may be putting the disc into the wrong drive and it can't recognize it because the destination drive has the original disc or no disc.

Ive tried most of the idea here and none have worked. with the latest AnyDVD available. Ive tried shrink and dvd dycrypt and fabdvd. Shrink still gives me an error message and DVD Dycryp and Fab DVD pause out after 2 percent.

What has worked for me is AnyDVD and DVD Region +CSS Free BOTH running in the background. This allows DVD Shrink to work. After dumping the French audio and subtitles. Im able to get 64% quality with full disk backup.

I thought about that but I only have one DVD RW drive. I made sure I was putting the disc in the right drive. So I'm not sure why it's still not working.

I too must say thanks to you all for helping me get through some frustrating backup issues. I have viewed this site many times and have always got a great tip on "how to". Never been denied a backup yet, thanks to you guys/gals. So now I will put my two cents in after learning from the best. DVDFab / Shrink / Decrypter was the answer for me. used 16X+-R Emprex (16X-R DVD) no re-author, except for the Frenchie talk. Widescreen.

Thanks
Go Edmonton!

Could be heat problem. When was the last time you opened the case and did a thorough clean of vents fans and heatsink.

I've copied other movies since trying Evolution so I don't think heat is the problem.

Hey, I have a problem a previous couple posters have backing up Underworld Evolution with DVD Fab. It just stops after 131MB is copied. My version of it is 2.9.6.8.

Can anyone help me get this backed up? The tools I have are DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0, DVDShrink 3.2, PGcEdit, and DVD Fab. Could someone try helping me with these tools.

Usually for hard backups I use the PgcEdit but this one isn't working too well. I get PgcEdit errors after DVD Decrypter gets done.

Any help?
