http://cgi.ebay.fr/MIRAGE-CD-Emulator-JAPANESE-User-Manual-JAP-17...

This is for sale on ebay from france which says it's from Japan. All I want to know is how do I get more info on something like this. A cd emulator is basically Daemon Tools and the like but this item is very new to me as I imagine it would be for many others. Please tell me whatever you can. Cd emulator when typed into google shows nothing about what is apparently called the Mirage CD Emulator. The possibilties that exist with such a device I shudder to think. Thanks to all who even bother to look.

Who needs text when you have a picture. It is a special cd which you can place into a player(in this case a playstation) and by uploading say an iso onto it, it could act as a cd but it would be infinitely rewritable and no doubt would provide a high quality image for your laser. I need more info on it to be sure but look closely at the picture and think of the implications man. If more of this type of thing are being produced then I would want to know about it. I also never said that I wanted to buy this particular item but I understand the thought. This item is hard for me to describe. EVERYONE PLEASE LOOK!

Wait one minute, that's not a PlayStation. That thing is a Sega Saturn! The thing is BLACK! PlayStations are not black! Here is proof this is for the Sega Saturn:

-Console color: Saturn-Black PlayStation-Gray(or white for the compacted version)

-Lid style: Saturn-The hinge is on the left. PlayStation-On the right.

-No mention of the PlayStation, there's only a mention of Saturn in these instructions.

This is junk! Totally useless! Get this out of here(unless it works with the PlayStation)!

My console collection: Version 14A PlayStation 2(chipped), Version 7 PlayStation 2, PlayStation(both models), Wii, Gamecube, N64, Super NES(original from US and Japan and Mini), NES(front and top loader)Model 1 & 2 Genesis, Sega CD, Sega 32X, Atari 2600, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Master System(Model 1 and 2), Atari Flashback 1 & 2, FC Twin(2 in 1 NES/Super NES clone), GN Twin(2 in 1 NES/Genesis clone), Atari 7800, Intellivision II, TurboGrafx 16, GameBoy Color

I understand that it is fun to give comments like the one you just gave, but I meant that as an example. Not to mention that the product is located in the PS1 section of the Frenchmans site. I find that it is obvious that if this thing works at all then it will work on any cd reading device you put it into. Imagine a usb stick that has been flattened into the shape of a cd. Now imagine it being in every way shape and form recognized as a cd in the devices you put it into with the added bonus of it having all the functionality of a usb drive. It is basically a dvdrw the likes of which you haven't seen b4. I am sorry I even asked Afterdawn before consulting the Frenchman, but I figured if this thing even existed then someone on Afterdawn would know about it. Don't forget that my intentions are good(I'm just an idiot). I will get back to those who care and I will hopefully be bringing good news.

I accept your appology. I must admit that it is located in the saturn section aswell, and it states clearly that it is compatible with PS1. The bad news is that the link I put up is actually for the manual which comes with the device but this is no matter(the pictures say it all) The issue is and I was hoping that I wouldn't have to say this, but it is no simple, cheap peace of technology which I was hoping it would be. I don't know the cost now but in the hayday of sega saturn, this peace of tech had a cost of $8,000.

It was intended for programmers who wanted to test the final product(game or some software)on a game console, without burning to disk and it gave them the ability to change code and immediately put it to the test as the system was running. I will add more on it later when I get the link off of my other comp. This type of device still has alot of potential and I would like to discuss that potential. Once I add the 2nd link, I would really like to hear some comments.

I did own a saturn about a year ago and it couldn't do anything special except play the 3 games I had for it. I actually don't really know what other games came out for the damn thing. I recall it not being very successful, but I could be wrong. My PS and PS2 both play backups though.

I have to admit that me staring this particular thread was a stupid idea. I acted on a whim and regret misusing Afterdawn but this will be the first and last time I do something like this.

Thanks for the responses, and unless someone finds this item for $50 somewhere, please ignore the thread.
