I have a dvd Shrink backup of DVD's I legaly own. When I try to play them on my hard drive they work fine, but when I burn them to DVD's and close the dvd, the Nero 7 player says dvd struction error. This is only from the dvd version, not the hard drive or original version. Does anyone know what is going on? I have messed with the settings to no effect.
It's odd that you would be getting this error after the files have been burned to disk (if I'm understanding you correctly). Try this:
After the files have been ripped to your hard drive and are located in a VIDEO_TS folder(.vob, .ifo, and .bup files), process them thru a free utility called FixVTS, it will correct any file structure problems and make the files DVD compliant. Once the files have been processed thru FixVTS, manually burn them to disk using nero (keep the write speed at 4x or no greater than 1/2 the rated speed of the media).
Yea, it's not clear as to when the problem occurs. I'm assuming Cinanix means a dvd structure error, but I haven't seen it occur when playing the dvd, only when ripping or trying to burn the files the disk????
That or picking an option that doesn't have a video complaint format like doing a data dvd instead of a dvd video option. But Nero will usually give you a warning. Now if you choice to ignore it may or may not play.
