Hi,
I have read some of the FAQ's and also looked at some other sites, and it doesn't there is a consensous on what to use for what I would like to do.
I would like a program that will rip any DVD I own directly into the format the PSP likes. I have PSP Video9, and PSP Media Manager made by Sony. However, as I am sure you all know. Those wont do what I am asking for.
So from the super smart people here I ask... Can you recommend a program that will do this, that is easy, and spyware free. I don't mind if it costs a little bit of money, but nothing too expensive. (Though free is always best)
Thanks,
:)

DVD Decrypter lets you rip the dvd. but your going to have to encode it with video9.
but thats not that hard.
infact there is a tutorial somewhere.

Hmm, was really looking more for a one step type of application though. One where it will rip any DVD right to the format the PSP likes.
I can then just move it manually, or use my PSP Media Manager from Sony to place it on the PSP.

I found this, does anyone know anything about this product, or company?? It seems to say it will do it all in one step, and they claim 400% faster then those other methods that require 2 steps. I take this to mean the DVD Decrypter/PSPVideo9 route.

Thanks

There is a free demo download, you could try that and see if it works.
Never heard of this software before, maybe some of the old pro's round here have.

*cough I don't know of anywhere.
My main concern though is to know a "good & reputable" application to use. I am pretty paranoid about what I put on my PC.
In the meantime I have gone ahead and tried the first idea. Very odd though. After ripping my DVD I got 3 files, not 1. I then re-named the one with the .VOB ext to the movies name.
Then I set everything up as in the guide hit start...
and from the moment I hit start, it said it was 88% complete on the first pass.
It has been about 40 minutes now, and it still says 88% complete on the 1st pass.
P.S. Please everyone, and anyone... don't forget my "main" question though about some software that will do this all in one easy step.
Thanks for all the help.
:)

id quote you, but id too lazy right now.
this forum isjust pouring over the top with piracy, and the only thing the offenders do here to cover it up is *cough* and put the pirated lines between it when it is clearly against forum policy...
i like to come here to try and help when i can, but im more into xbox modding, and being a mod on xbox-scene... where piracy will get you banned, then coming here where piracy gets your thread closed after it reaches its peak... it just throws me off.
sorry... but a forum is only as strong as its members...

The 3 files I ended up with if I remember them right (Yep already deleted them)
xxx.ifo
xxx.vob
xxx.txt << I think
I still would like to know if there is a well known, and trusted application that can do this in one step.
However, failing that, I do have some more questions.
How can I "not" rip parts of the movie that I don't need (Such as the long credits at the end)
The movie I ripped was my copy of Star Trek The Next Generation "Nemesis"
I ended up with bars on top and bottom. I tried to even play a little with the settings (The crop) But never was able to get rid of them. How can I know for future use, how they will come out "Before" it is finished?
Thanks
:)

Im a tad bit lost.
what you need is video9. That is the only applecation that i know of that will convert your movies then be able to move them over to the psp. (not to mention that it is free)
as for the bars...there is PSP Movie Creator. But it costs money, and won't convert a lot of video types.
if you send me your email in a pm i might be able to send you something.
it won't rip but it will convert and copy.

I followed the two steps outlined way above, and used the two programs listed. Everything came out very well. I just would like to be able to not rip the credits if possible.
Would also have been nice if it would have come out with chapters. The PSP treats it as basically just one big chapter

well you could turn the file splitting on and pick how many chapters that you want.
then you could encode all the chapters that you want. then you don't have to get the credits if you don't want them.
Movie Creator actually lets you "Record" the movie. then you can stop once it gets to the credits. and you can crop it while you "Record" meaning that you don't have those bars.
but if you give me your email i could send you a software.

I would recommend CloneDVD Mobile. It is a program from the same people who created Slysoft and CloneDVD (2). You select your player (eg. PSP, iPod video, etc.), select the movie and hit go and it will create a file compatible with the player you chose (in your case a PSP). I dont have a PSP and am not sure how to put movies on a PSP. But I have used this for a iPod Video and the quality is good enough for me. And for any movies that are encrypted (which most of the movies you will use probably are you will need AnyDVD I believe DVD43FREE will also work and DVD43FREE is free but is inferior to AnyDVD. You can purchase both AnyDVD and CloneDVD Mobile for a somewhat steep price of $59 dollars. If you already have AnyDVD or decide to use the free DVD43FREE the price of CloneDVD Mobile by itself would be $39 dollars. Both these applications (CloneDVD Mobile and anyDVD) are great applications and both have free updates for the life of the program.

*Aenygma* The three files u have questioned about, VOB, TXT, IFO, u only need the VOB file the other two u can delete safely.
As for your other question, u can edit the movie using DGINDEX, then create a .AVS file (AVI SYNTH) and convert that way.
PSPvideo9 is safe to use, there is no spyware or adware in the program, incase thats what ur worried about, if u get stuck on the guide gimme ashout. ;)

Thanks Sudds, though I am sure I shall be giving you a shout soon enough lol. Actually, can you just be on IRC with me walking me through everything LOLOL.
Thank you too Codeman for all the help. As I said with your help, I was able to rip the movie I wanted. Still, I wish to be able to do more. (Like the chapter thing, be able to only rip selected parts, not rip credits etc...)
The way my simple mind sees it. I think a ripping app should basically have a little preview window, and then you can SEE in real time where it is, and what you want, and or don't want to rip.
I apppreciate all the advice given so far, however I no-one has said there is one "Single" app that can do all this, so I guess none exsist?
That seems so odd... Wouldn't there be a pretty big market for an application like the one I am looking for. You know for all us people who really don't know what we are doing and need hand holding.
Any other suggestions, I will gladly appreciate. (You know the chapters, and how to rip selected parts of a movie)
...
To address the other things brought up in this thread. The title was meant as a joke. However, I can fully assure you I do indeed have brown hair, and baby blue eyes. (By the way... I never said I was a girl, my how some of you jumped to that conclusion. LOL)

well see about the program...if you start adding to many features on a program is becomes hard to handle and figure out.
Its kindof like ading a computer, toaster, car, camera, umbrella, and a pair of shoes. it is just to much.
Someone should try to make that software. im in the learning process. making a program from someone that has little experience like me would take months even years. but an expert would be able to probably be able to make a program like the one you are discribing in about a month.
but still.
if someone would like to try to make a program like that that would be great.

I knew you were a guy from the jump. And since when do people refer to men as brunettes? So don't play that card at all. Jus as for help, there should be no hidden schemes just for some help. Its silly, and shows no class. Would you put on a dress just so you could hail a cab? No (i hope). then dont do that.

Well, hopefully someone will get on that app ASAP lol. I still wish to learn more about how to get it so it fills the PSP's screen, and how to crop off the parts I don't want.

*Joeva, wow relax lol. *Everyone else, thanks for the help, and glad you could see the humour in the thread title.
