I have tried everthing to back this disc up and the best I can get is fuzz and static. Every now and then a picture and then more fuzz and static.
I've tried using Decryptor, Shrink, DVDFab, with different combos of DVD43 and FreeDVD with no success. Does it have some special protection?

The disc is a Taiyo Yuden 4x and the burner is a Plextor.
I have burned over 1200 discs with these discs and burner and never had this issue.
I thought maybe it had some sort of copy protect. that I was unaware of.
In fact, since I wrote the original thread I burned The Pelican Brief with no problem.

I should clarify.....I have not tried to burn the movie because when I prevue it on Shrink it's a mess. That's where I'm getting the awful picture almost throughout.

Shrink will not rip it. Decryptor will not rip it. Only DVDFab will rip it.

Try this. It's possible that there is some structural protection you need to deal with.

1. Rip it to Hard Disk using DVDFab Decrypter (http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm)
2. Process through VobBlanker (http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm)
3. Reauthor with DVD Shrink
4. Burn with ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com)

Here's a link to a guide that will give you detailed steps:

Make sure you don't have DVD43 running as it can interfere.

Good Luck!

That was one of the options I tried previously and actually the only option that would rip it successfully.
But the result was that it came out as I mentioned before, with very, very little of the movie even viewable when I loaded it into Decryptor and tried to preview it.
I'm starting to believe that there is something wrong with the disc that I'm trying to rip from. I've never had anywhere close to this much trouble unless there was something like that going on.
And if no one on this forum has heard of issues with that movie I have to think it's the disc.
I tried to 'search' the movie in the search engine but it kept coming back that the search engine is unavailable at this time.

It's entirely possible that your disk is bad.

The search function here has been temporarily disabled, but you can search afterdawn using google. In the google search bar, type:

I have not tried to burn it because it is so obviously messed up in the preview window of Shrink.
I know when a file looks that bad in the preview window it will turn out similar if you try to burn it and can't see wasting a disc on it.
