It's very easy - once you do it a couple of times you'll be swaping discs like a pro using your slide card.

No, it is a complete pain in the butt.
Spen the $20 and get a fliptop case. It takes about 5 minutes to install it and it will be much, much easier than using a slide card.
Or just get a good modchip installed and do not worry about any swapping at all.

On top of all that, u can seriously damage the motor in ur tray if u dont use the slide card properly. Not worth the trouble.

I agree with you guys - flip top is the way to go, but if you're short on $$ then the slide card is o.k. to use. I had a slide card, got sick of it, then a flip top, got sick of the swapping so I invested in a mod chip (more time to play the game!!).

Yoti, u hit it on the head. If ur just starting out and want any easy way to play backups, SM is the way to go. Once u realize that SM is slow, painful, and doesnt support all games in their normal form u upgrade to a chip and are happy as hell u did;)

coastin,
not talking about a flip top PSTwo, but an aftermarket flip top that you buy and install on the older model PS2 (V1-V11)
The new slimline you still need to replace that flip top with an aftermarket one, or a set of tools like Magic Keys to work with
Swap Magic.

SM 3.2 is fine, but some ppl have problems loading backups with a small amount of games. If u still havent bought 3.2, get 3.6, I use it and i never had a problem.

Well, you can back it up, it is just worthless to do that.
As you would need an original copy (bought) of Swap Magic
to load you r back up, like any other back up.
The only time i knew people who did it was when they had an older copy and wanted the new version. So they used the older version to load the back up of the newer version. But that is just way too much swapping for me.
In fact any swapping is way too much swapping for me :)

y not just pay $15-20 and save the hassle? Better yet, y not just spend a few extra bucks and get a chip? Steimy's preaching has turned me to chips LOL...Cause swapping disks get stale quick, and swapping to swap is just painful.

LOL, thanks man
yeah, i sent my chipped V12 PSTwo off to CA this week to be further macked out with an HD Combo case and 250GB hard drive.
I tried using the old V7 with fliptop and Swap Magic yesterday and just got too frustrated and stuck it back in the closet where it belongs :)
I have no idea how big it is as i have never tried to copy it. Download it and find out for yourself. I think they fit on a CD so i would say it is under 700MB then.
