This has been writen for all you noobs who absolutly REFUSE to read all instrustions before modding. In your little
head all you can think about is MOD MOD MOD MOD HAHAHA!! and then you screw up and start posting all over the fourms
help me I dont have a dashboard! I messed my softmod help! Well you are lucky there are people like me who are kind
enough to write you a whole tutorial on how to fix your screw ups. Im taking time out of my own life so please
give me some credit.
First a little knowledge about hotswap.
Your xbox has has a stock harddrive along with a motherboard and DVD drive. They are all connected with a cable
called an IDE cable. Your computer (Unless you are using a laptop in that case this tutorial has no use for you)
does the same thing. What hotswap does is let you get you xbox back to normal running condition and from there you
can try to reinstall your softmod or just play your xbox normally. If you are getting errors when you turn your
xbox on and your LED flashes Red and green this will fix it. Errors 13, 14, 16, 20 and 21 are the most common.
Some Basic Precautions
Hotswap can be very dangerous to the life of your xbox if done incorrectly. If you ONCE AGAIN REFUSE TO READ than
you will be 100% screwed and your xbox can double as a chilli pot or birdfeeder.
Watch your hands! There is over 100 volts of electricity flowing through oth the xbox's and computer's motherboards
and if not careful you can dammage your systems or your pretty beebing heart so please be careful this is a help
tutorial not a suicide help guide.
Please read through all of this before you start. JUST READ IT!
Programs Needed
Xplorer360
Files Needed
Original C Drive Files and folders For the Xbox.
Folders:
Audio
fonts
xodash
xboxdashdata.185ead00 (May be slightly diffrently spelled)
Files:
xboxdash.xbe
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The Procedure
STEP 1
*The cover of your xbox needs to be taken off in order to get to the good stuff inside*
Materials needed
Torxx Screwdriver (I just used some ghetto allen wrenches though LOL)
Your xbox (WELL DUH)
1.Flip your xbox over and notice that there are no screws there WOAH! Well idiot they are under the grips and
stickers on the bottom so find em and take em out. (there are 6 screws)
2.Flip her back over and slide the top right off. If it is very difficult to slide off, YOU DONT HAVE ALL 6 SCREWS
OUT! (Notice it is all lined with sheet metal ohh nice one Microsoft nice.)
3.FIND YOUR IDE CABLE! and make sure you can take it out of the hard drive.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
STEP 2
*Opening up your computer and finding an IDE Cable in there*
Materials needed
Philips head screwdriver
Your Computer (NOT A LAPTOP!)
1.Turn off your computer and unplug the IDE Cable attached to either your CD-ROM drive or Floppy drive.
***MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT UNPLUGING THE ONE FROM YOUR COMPUTER'S HARD DRIVE!
2.Start up your computer and quickly press the PAUSE/BREAK key. Before it starts scanning IDE drives.
NOW YOU HAVE DONE ALOT OF READING GO GET YOURSELF A COOKIE AND A GLASS OF HOT CO-CO. And look at my cute little kittens!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
-*-*-*-DONT TURN OFF YOUR XBOX AFTER THIS! DONT TURN IT OFF TILL I SAY SO!-*-*-*-
STEP 3
*Connecting the xbox's Hard drive to your computer*
Materials needed
Xbox and Computer.
1.move your xbox close to your computer so that your xbox's Hard drive can have the spare IDE cable form your
computer plugged into it.
2.Start up your xbox and wait for the big green X to appear now is you chance to unplug your xbox's IDE cable.
You need to do this at the right time to "unlock" yor Hard drive or else you computer cant read it.
(This might be a little tricky but it can be done. Also, make sure you Hard drive dosen't reboot while you are
unpluging it. This can be caused by shaking or jerking it too hard. If it does reboot just start again from
step 2.)
3.Plug your computer's IDE cable into the hard drive and press any key to continue loading.
(If it says cannot find a drive dont worry just press F1. Also, If it freezes during bootup, your Hard drive is not
unlocked and you need to start again for step 2.)
Step 4
*YEPPIE! now you have gotten it all ready! now it is time for you to use your computer TO FIX THE XBOX.
1.Go to Start/Control Panel/Printers and Other Hardware/System/Hardware/Device Manager. Now highlight the top thing
(the name of your computer) and go to action and scan for hardware changes. It will detect your xbox if all has
been done right.
2.Open up Xplorer360 and go to Drive/open/harddrive or memcard
3.You should see Partition 0-4 on the left side of the screen. 0,1, and 2 are just cashe storage so all that
information can simply be deleted.
4.Now there is 3 and 4 left. 3 is you xbox's C drive and 4 is the Xbox's E drive. This is what you screwed up.
I HIGHLY recomend that you back these drives up to your computer. It might take like 10 minutes but you need to be
a little patient seeing that is what got you here in the first place.
5.Now it is safe to clear out your C and E drive (Partition 3 and 4). Now you need to get the right files in there
The easiest Drive is Partition 4 (E Drive)
All you need in here is two folders you can even make em yourself. All capital letters one folder id UDATA and the
other is TDATA.
Now the tricky one Partition 3 (C Drive)
This is where everything goes. Your xbox dashboard, System files, ECT.
==++==!Get Original Xbox C files from download section of this site!==++==
Step 6
*Clean up Time!*
1.Carefully!! Unplug the computer's IDE Cable from the xbox Hard drive and plug it back into to xbox
WHICH SHOULD STILL BE ON!! and it is now safe to turn off the xbox.
2.Put everything back together so your mommy dosen't come home and yell at you, and turn on your xbox. It should be
back to factory condition.
3. I hope you are happy now. Now I hope you have learned your lesson and never have to use this again!
