My project is redoing my old 321 disks and getting rid of the nag screen in them. Been using VobBlanker to get rid of the nag and then just processing, do not want any re-encoding. Got to go out and buy some more cases though. Sigh, it always seems I am running out of space :)

I mentioned that I had burned 4 discs on my old burner that didn't work. Would it be advised to erase them and burn them using my Lite-On (which I LOVE BTW!). Thanks, Kegan
Also, I have a piece of something stuck to the clear plastic in the middle of a DVD, just outside the ring. Should this affect playability? Cheers, Kegan

Well since they're the memorex ones I'd say no. But videohelp.com has the 2x ones being made by CMC (yuck) MCC (great) Ritek (good) and TDK (iffy).
So try and id the manufactuer in the LiteOn - if MCC or Ritek - then do a full erase and try it out. The other 2 well....
Whatever is stuck on the inner hub may or may not affect playback. Depends on how big and heavy (may get off balance). What is it?

that could affect the playback of the dvd if it makes it unbalanced and the player can't read the disk correctly! sooooooo yes it could affect the readability of the disk!

my picture is jumpy; I'm assuming something's up. I don't know what it is or how it got there, but I'm returning it. I bought it through eBay through a dealer in the U.K who said it was region 1 NTSC; it's region 2 PAL. That's no big deal b/c I've got a region-free player, but the back of the case says the movie is rated R for strong violence, sexuality, language...it's a Disney movie, 'Nanny McPhee'.
BTW, is there a way to convert regions into different ones. My player said in the listing it could do it, but there's nothing in the book about it...
Also, what does XConvertDVD(whatever it's called LOL) do? Is it free and would I want it?

PS- The discs I erased weren't my Mammorexes, I used my Sonys. They seem to be fine, but I noticed I am cutting very close to the edge of the discs LOL. Always was a daredevil! Happy Apocalypse 6/6/06!

I backed up a dvd (The Emperor's Club) using Any DVD and Clone DVD. Everything seemed to go well, but my player wouldn't recognize it. I put it in my computer and used Power DVD and it played the whole movie. I tried to see if I could back it up by unchecking some of the unecessary portions using Clone DVD and it would not recognize it. I am using Taiyo Yuden 8X for media. Anyone know what my problem might be?

there are plenty of reasons why certain dvds won't play in other players:
1. burning speeds: burn at 4x so there will be less writing errors (rule of thumb is to burn at half the rated speed of the disk--8X disk burn at 4x).
2. read manual for your stand alone player and use the disks that will play in your player. If your player is less than 2 yrs old then it should play the + or - R disks! I said SHOULD that's why you read the manual.
3. try booktyping your drive to DVd-ROM so it will make your +R disks more compatible to players. Read this:

4. make sure that there are no finger prints or scratches on your disk that make it hard for the player to read the disk!
5. use good quality media (rule of thumb....buy the ones that are Made in Japan.) Verbatim is a top notch disk and is the only exception to this rule....some Verbatims are made in Taiwan and they are top notch!
6. and don't burn too close to the outer edge of the disk ..... which will make the disk unreadable! but using good media you will be able to burn close to the edge better than lesser quality media. Just in case I only burn no closer than 4400MB, so if you can set your programs to that, all the better!
follow these little tips of the trade and you'll have better success! good luck.
