cyclic redudancy check

Hello,
I'm having problems with dvd shrink. I am currently using dvd shrink along with anydvd. At first it was working really well for me. Now it reads failed to read file "D"(cyclic redundancy check)
What does that mean. It will start reading then all of a sudden that will pop up.

It could just be a defect in the disk causing the read error or is this error occurring with every disk?
Make sure AnyDVD is up to date.
If it's just one disk, clean the disk and try again.
Try ripping it to your HDD with DVD Decrypter or DVDFab Decrypter. If that works, you can try Shrink with the ripped file on the HDD.

Will DVD Decrypter or DVDFab Decrypter rip the disk to your HDD? If not, it may be a hardware problem.
If they will rip to the HDD, will DVD Shrink then process the ripped file?
If you have Nero Recode, try that instead of DVD Shrink. If you don't have it, there's a free trial available of the Nero suite at:
http://www.nero.com

Using DVD Shrink it can read it but it takes a while. Then when I re-author it, that works as well. But when I try to back it up that's when I have the problem. It will start analyzing, then the redundancy check pops up.

Since you have AnyDVD, use its ripper to copy the contents of the disk to your hard drive. Right click on the red Fox icon in the lower right of the task bar and select "Rip Video-DVD to Harddisk...". Let me know if that is successful. At this point we are trying to see if the problem is hardware or software in origin.

I just got the dreaded "cyclic redundancy check" on a new disk I was backing up. I looked at the disk and there was one of my greasy buttered popcorn fingerprints. One of my 2 best friends solved the problem! I used isopropyl alcohol with of soft cotton cloth. When I have a scratched disk I normally use my wifes Pledge dust spray.

that all was happens to me so i switched to clonedvd2 and any dvd about 12 months since january.the good thin i love about CloneDVD is you can get rid of all the previews and keep all special features

Do I use DVD Shrink first before I use AnyDVD?I right click on AnyDVD it shows what destination and source I want it in. What do I put down?

Basically I can't copy any movie. I try to use the DVD Shrink along with AnyDVD, it takes a while to analyze the movie but it does. Then when I re-author the movie and click on back up. It starts to analyze it again the the cyclic redundancy check pops up. I don't know if it is my hard drive or not. It can read programs that I need to add to my computer but it take a very long time to read a dvd.

memorex 16x1 dual format,4x dual layer, internal, 16xdvd+/-,8x/6x, dvd+/-rw #32023292. I just updated my firmware.

When you right click on the red fox, the AnyDVD icon, in the taskbar, click on the folder icon on the right to navigate the DVD drive containing the disk to be ripped. The destination is the path on your hard drive where you want the ripped disk to be stored.

now my drive does not even recognize or read any dvds. Do you think I need a new drive?

Do you have any friends with computers that you can take the drive to and test in their system to see if it works?
Also go to WinXP Device Manager:
Right click on My Computer.
Select Manage.
Select Device Manager.
Expand DVD/CD-ROM drives.
Right click on the name of your DVD drive and select Uninstall.
Also while you're there, expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
Right click on the Primary IDE Channel and select Uninstall.
Right click on the Secondary IDE Channel and select Uninstall.
Restart your system and see if the drive works.
It is of course possible that the drive is defective even though purchased only in January.

Plus from what i understand memorex drives are'nt the best to
start with.
