I put in my DMS chip, installed Toxic and everything ran great for a little while. I kept putting off the romeo mod and putting it off and now my PS2 won't load ANY games at all. Original or back-ups. Do you think this is the laser being burned out or what?

Sounds like your laser is out. What version is your PS2? It's always good to have some laser protection when you get a modchip

version 10. I knew I should have taken care of that when I had the chance. it was working this morning just fine but then when I got home it just stopped. Although I did buy a new memory card and put that in and when I tried to change my toxic OS settings and it came time to reset the console, the reset button wouldn't work so i had to use the main toggle switch in the back. THink that had anything to do with it?

Shouldn't do... Try cleaning the laser lens, and also adjusting it. If that still doesn't work, then you'll need to get a new laser

i've heard that with a new laser you'll also need a new chip. Is that true? Also are the lasers easy to replace?

By a new chip you meant modchip? No...

Lasers are relatively easy to replace, have a search in google for a guide on replacing your laser. Also here's a link to adjusting your laser: http://www.ps2parts.com/laser_adjustment.html. If it really doesn't work, then its always worth trying to adjust the laser before you get a new one, if it's not working, then the worst case scenario is that it won't work, but with a bit of luck you have get a few months out of it by adjusting the laser.

No I meant the LA6508 chip that drives the laser. I read somewhere that they will sometimes burnout as well due to the mod chip.

Since you got a V10, that's possible... here's a link regarding that: http://www.darkplanets.co.uk/la6508/
