i have been using xpress copy 3.2.1 for 3 years. i have a hp dvd writer 300e, connected using firewire. i have burned hundreds of dvd movies. now i get a write error immediately after reading dvd. it happens as soon as you click the start button, then the disc is ruined. has this happened to anyone else. i can burn to a dvd using roxio so there is nothing wrong with burner. i also get write error when using dvd shrink combined with nero.

Is the disk copy protected? Are you using AnyDVD to overcome structural copy protection? Is it just this one disk or all disks? What title is it?

There are many guides here and elsewhere for using free software to backup disks.
