I recently downloaded a movie and have decided I want to put it on a dvd....But that's as far as I've got. I don't know how to tell if the movie is an AVI format or whatever other formats there are. I have no idea what programs to use..I'm just floundering around this site reading guides and threads, but not fully understanding what any of them mean.

Some pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would suggest you go to the folder location where your files are, left click on them and it should show you what format they are, if they are in AVI format, which the majority of D/L files are then you can check out the Nero guide by alkohol in my sig on how to burn to DVD

Thanks for the tip gwendolin. It turns out its an mpeg file. After finding that out, I tried burning that file onto a dvd with the burning program that came with my burner. It said that the file was too large. Why would this happen if the file was only 600,000mgb and the dvd i wanted to burn it onto was 4.7gb?

ps. When i right click on the movie and go to properties it says its a TS - 1 CD VCD. Could this be the reason it's not burning properly?
