Hi, anyone having trouble burning Capote DVD. When using DVD Shrink, once I click open disc, I receive a navigation error. When using DVD Decryptor, it keeps retrying. There are no scratch on the DVD. Any pointer on how to burn capote?

Thank you

Hi ahar429
Capote has Sony's ARccOS on it. So the 2 easiest ways would be:
°Rip w/ dvdfab decrypter (free)
°Have AnyDVD (free 21 day trial) running in the background w/ Shrink.
http://dvdidle.com/free.htm (dvdfab decrypter)
http://slysoft.com/en/ (AnyDVD)

Binkie has the right advice, as always. I did this one with the AnyDVD ripper and then Nero Recode (same as Shrink) came out great.

There was a huge thread or two about this particular DVD.

Anyway, the latest version of AnyDVD should be able to handle it. At the time of this DVD's release, the latest verison of AnyDVD did it easily. So if you have the latest version now (5963), there shouldn't be any hiccups.

Also, like everyone else said, the alternatives should work.

Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

Nothing special, however, it is true that it has some of the latest protections, but it's simply just another piece of cake.

<> rip with DVDFAB Decrypter (12 minutes)
<> process the VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker (5 minutes for security purpose)
<> transcode with DVD Shrink or Nero Recode or your desire encoding engine
<> burn with ImgBurn, DVD Decrypter or your desire burning engine

Best of lucks and happy burning.

Hi all

Loaded the latest version of DVDFab Platinum

Ripped Capote and it gave me a file size of 4.38GB

Tried to run it through DVD Shrink and still got error messages.

Its also slightly too big to ripp straight to DVD.

Do i need to use/install VobBlanker ?

any help would be appreciated

If Shrink is giving you an error, then you probably do need VB for this movie. You can also try the new program RipIt4Me it will do all newer protected movies, you can use a 1click mode and the program will create a PSL file and import it into DVD Decrypter and then you can rip, after that FixVTS will cleanup the file and Shrink will open for you. This works with the original disk.

Hey ahar429
Sure did! Great program that handles anything out there. Still use some other programs to play from time to time.

@hm1
Yes rit4me is free. If you click on the link in arniebear's post there's also a link to download the program.

This is one new program that I still need to try.

Hi all

Still having problems

1) Used DVDFabplatinum to rip the disc.
Left with a files that were too large to burn.
Tried to use VobBlanker and once this was completed tried to use shrink, but still got error message

2) Used Ripit4me with Decrypter and it couldn't get teh Job

Done at all.

DVD Shrink doesn't seem to be able to read the DVD file structure once DVDfab rips the dvd.

This film is staring to get annoying. Again, any feedback would be a great help

P.S. Are there any set settings for DVDfab decrypter that i need to use?

Like 300Bowler said use DVDFab Decrypter to rip to HDD, Shrink to compress Imgburn to burn or Nero.

If DVDFab Decrypter does not do the job, use VobBlanker after the ripping process to clean up.

Here is a guide for VobBlanker http://www.dvdr-digest.com/articles/article_vobblanker_page1.html

Also there is a great guide by Alkohol, just click on the link in my sig ;)

Hi all

by far the easiest way was to simply use DVDFab platinum and nothing else.

It rips and writes.

I've successfully backed up my copy of capote using this software and nothing else.

Shrink doesn't recognise the file structure at all so to all trying just used DVDFab platinum and let it rip the film and write it to a blank disc too

@ hm1,
are u sure u didn't have to encode the movie before u burned it,
maybe u just did the film and not the full back up?
im not sure because i have barely used FabPlatinum.

BTW i was just telling u the free way to do it u have to pay for FabPlatinum after free trial is up

and all u need is Vobblanker after fab decrypter to use shrink and it will do it perfectly. not that hard either

Hi 300bowler

I have used the latest version of DVDFab platinum to rip the movie.

I used Vobblanker but shrink still couldn't read the files due to file structure issues so i had to just burn the copy made by DVDfab platinum using DVDFab platinum's write capabilities.

Unfortunatly the dic greated is still problematic.

DVD Shrink just cannot handle these files at all even when they have been ripped for some reason.

I've tried using the re-author mode on shrink, created ISo files with DVD Decrypter to run through shrink and teh same issue comes us with shrink

Incorrect DVD navigation system

So my options are limited to using DVDfab platinum.

Lower versions of DVDFab could rip the movie also but had trouble writing these files

Thanks for all your help, its appreciated.

@ hm1,

Okay try this method and it should work

1.DVDFab Decrypter 2980(Not DVDFab Platinum) to rip 2 HDD, here is the free version http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm
In my opinion the free ripper is better than the platinum.

2.Run the ripped folder thru VOBblanker. (Vobblanker is a program that is suppose to fix the structaul problems) here is a guide
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/334154

3.Then run the Folder created by VOBblanker thru Shrink or u can try Nero recode2 if u have it.

4.Then burn with your desired program

hers is another guide for VobBlanker
http://www.dvdr-digest.com/articles/article_vobblanker_page1.html

this should work because this is how i backed up capote and it came out prefect.
repost if this exact method fails

Hi 300bowler

Thanks aghain for all your help

What i can't understadn is that so people have used shrink without any problems at all after ripping teh movie with DVDFab express.

I used the DVD Fab express free edition.

The issue is the DVD File structure. For some reason Shrink just doesn't like it.

I'll read through the Vobblanker guides and try to fix the file system too.

Again thanks for all you help and i'll let you all knwo how i get on
