Lucky for me, a place near me is selling "Matrix Infinity Modchip+Install" packages. This is a picture of one of the Matrix Infinity(ies?)s they're selling. Also, they sell DMS4 lites, magic switches, slim fliptop lids, and magic VK6.

Is it legit? Should I go for it?

Oh, yeah, and again, I have an SCPH-75001.

not sure if it is just me but the picture didn't show
I would not buy most of the chips you listed. The DMS4 lite is ok but i would always get a DMS4 Pro first
how much are they charging for the chip & installs there?

The ModBo Ver 3.0 is like, $17 Canadian. However, their "Matrix Infinity" is $49.99 Canadian. Their DMS4 is 50.00 or so.

That is because the Modbo chip is a piece of junk, along with the Magic V and other cheap chips. You get what you pay for so if you get a $20 chip don't expect it to do much other than just play most of the back up's.

The higher priced chips like Matrix Infinity, DMS4 Pro,
Crystal Chip V1.1
those all have many functions, they have free flash upgrades you can download that will add features to the chip when they release them. And also fix problems running certain games or anything else they find. They are just an all around better choice.
But the choice is yours to make. Pay now or pay later when you realize you should have just spent the extra money on a good chip.

there is a picture of the real thing, looks the same to me.

they are a reputable online shop so i figure they sell the real on.
You have to be more careful when you do not buy the chip yoursel. If you just send in your PS2 and say mod it, they could stick any chip in there and until you tried to flash the firmware upgrade when it was released and destroyed it you would never know

GoCyber IS a reputable shop?

Oh, steiny, don't worry, I can get to this place in a few hours, so I won't have to SEND anything in. I will ENSURE they install the real thing, or else, well, they won't know what hit em'.

EDIT: I noticed that this site claims that they will test the PS2 after the mod, if I take it to them, have it modded, and whack TRIANGLE+CIRCLE right in the store, and the chip fries, would they replace it?

Also, how can I tell if it's a clone when I'm in the store and looking at it? Are there any very noticible differences between the real one and the clone?

I have not seen a clone first hand so i would not know. The problem people have is they just send their PS2 somewhere and have it modded. They have no idea what's inside it as they were no there to see it. Gocybershopping is a good site that many people have used so i think you can trust them.
I personally get all mine done by friends at another site, so i know what i'm getting and what quality the work will be.
I have even know people to send there system in, have it modded, and never even ask what chip it is. Now that is just stupid. Never have someone install a chip and not find out what it is.

But with that store you should be just fine.
What are they charging for the chip & install by the way?

ModBo Ver 2.1
Price: CDN $18.99, Save 36%
(USD $17.17) ((JUST FOR THE CHIP ITSELF, NO INSTALL)

DMS4 Lite (Unfortunately, they don't install this chip anymore, they just sell it, which kind of sucks :( )
Price: CDN $49.99, Save 44%
(USD $45.19)

GreenDot Matrix Infinity (YUM!)
Price: CDN $54.99, Save 21%
(USD $49.71)

INSTALLATION on Matrix Infinity
Price: CDN $149.99, Save 21%
(USD $135.58)

INSTALLATION on ModBo Ver 2.1
Price: CDN $119.00
(USD $107.56)

(I'm not sure if these chips themselves comes with installation, however, with prices like these, it's hard to believe they don't. WOW!

Another thing that is kind of yucky is that I don't think they offer laser fixes :( so if I wanted to get one, I'd have to get it BEFORE the actual "surgery" on the PS2. :(

However, as far as I can see by the prices, this thing is legit. The only thing that discomforts me a little is that they sell CLONES as well as ORIGINALS. Now why would they do that?

Damn, I emailed GCC about their chips. They said they had "Matrix Infinity" chips, and that they were not a clone. However, going into the option menu (TRIANGLE+CIRCLE) voids the warranty! This seems a little suspicious. Also, flashing the chip voids the warranty!

can't really tell by that, but those prices are WAY out of line.
unless they have included the price of return shipping in those prices.
Here in the US you can get the chip for $50, the install for about $35, and return shipping for about $15
They may talk about the warranty like that because the firmware you use is a third party and not what the chip comes with. Chips can not ship with that firmware because that is the way they get around the piracy laws. The chip will not play back up discs until you flash the firmware with the firmware from the Matrix Team homepage.
I know nothing about the Triangle + Circle thing so the only thing i can figure is the original firmware that it ships with doesn't have that feature. Also you do not want a DMS4 Lite chip, You would want a DMS4 Pro SE
