There's something I've been wondering for a while; my PS2 is busted, but I want to play the newest RPG releases. Is there any emulator software that would emulate the functions of a Playstation 2 on my computer? I don't mean standard emulators with ROMs and the like, but something that would allow me to put in a genuine PS2 game disc and run it like I was using a PS2...

Does such a thing exist and where can I get ahold of it?

There is an emulator tat will do this but what I have read on aD is that it runs 10fps a second and is very bad. Search aD for it if you really want it. But now Sony dropped the PS2 prce to 120USD, If you dont want a PS2 when PS3 comes out in November buy a used one. Otherwise you will have to endure 10fps lol

The PSX Emulator for Windows referred to in previous messages was called "Bleem!" rather than "Boing!" A google search will bring up lots of info on Bleem!

It worked rather well but it was hard to find cracked updates. It was just one of those things that was kinda neat as it made a guy feel like he was really sticking it to the man, so to say...

I tried the ps2 emulator on an amd64 3400+ with 1 gig of ram and it didn't even manage to load. That's as far as I bothered with it as I don't really have much interest in messing with ps2 stuff..

On the ps1 front.. The ePSXe emulator is excellent, as are some of the others. Gamepad support and everything. Most games work straight off the original disks too so have a go downloading one from wherever and having a mess with it. If you can't get one to work try another. I think it's so cool being able to play ps1 games on my pc and on my xbox.

The odd game is difficult...FFIX and Legacy of Kane come to mind as being hard work.

Hope that info is useful to somebody

ePSXe is working great... I can actually play my old copy of Castlevania now.

I assume the only PS2 emulator is Bleem!, then? Too bad...

No... Bleem! was a commercially available PSOne emulator. The same company that released Bleem! for windows also made a product called Bleemcast! that would let you run specifically supported PSOne games on a Dreamcast. Sony tried to sue Bleem! out of existence but basically lost if I recall right. Market forces instead of legal action put Bleem! to rest a few years ago.

I'm not sure why it (Bleem!) started getting talked about in this thread... heh
