I had been backing up my dvds with dvd shrink and nero just fine. all of a sudden i wasn't able to play any backups in my dvd player (but they will play on my computer..media center). i had my dvd drive replaced, had my hard drive replaced (another story), reinstalled dvd shrink, dvd decrypter and still the same problem. if you look at the back of the disk you can see a difference in a copy that will play and one that wont. the one that won't is only about half written on. dvd shrink never errors out during the whole process....if anyone has any idea whats going on here please please help me..........thanks

Here is my observation:

1. If DVD is not copy-protected in anyway, the copy created by DVD Shrink or a combination of DVD Decrypter/DVD Shrink plays on any DVD player.
2. If DVD is copy-protected, then the copy created by DVD Fab Decrypter/VOB Blanker (best free DVD backup tools IMHO) and DVD Shrink plays only on computer or a NEWER DVD player, but it will not play on an OLDER DVD player. If you use DVD Shrink but you don't shrink it (e.g. use two DVDs for one movie), then it may play on an older DVD player.
3. It is obvious to me that many people do not realize this phenomenon that many people are giving an advice what to do: Use DVD-R instead of DVD+R, use better DVD, burn at slower speed, etc, all of which will make no difference.
4. Since original DVD plays on any DVD player, this is a software problem. I hope that someone starts this new topic for discussion.

Post a log if you have one of your Nero burn. For Nero 6 look in My Computer/Programs/Ahead/Nero/Nero History. The latest one will do and remove your serial number, just cut and paste the last log.

believe it or not i got some memorex dvds and everything is working fine now. now all i got to do is fine something to do with the 50 maxells i got.thanks for the response
