@ChrisC586

hehe, just noticed you mentioned my name here, so perhaps i could shed some light to this media...

as to the QUALITY of this Benq 8x DVD+R media, it's about "on par" with the other "made in taiwan" media that is available today (with 1 big exception, not quite as good as MCC produced Verbatims)...i would actually compare it pretty close to Sony's own coded MIT media~ :P

the Benq 8x DVD+R has a MID coding of DAXONAZ2 and is naturally made in taiwan, i've used a few of these WAYYY back when (before i got my Benq drives) and they worked ok on the older Liteon drives i had at that time...with updated firmware of course...

since i have not used them EXTENSIVELY, i can't say whether or not they are a good buy for the price (they usually run cheaper online compared to the other "brand name" media), i don't have any more at this point and PERSONALLY would not spend the money to try some more, but it's really up to you...

if i you find the quality of Sony's own MIT media acceptable or good on your burner/setup, this Benq media is about the same from MY OWN experience (basic comparison) :)

After I posted I remembered the media code thread at the time search wsn't working and had a heck of a time gettin on AD. Was hopin to save a little, but as you know the Tys and Verbs are the only thing out there .I was hopin for the price they could've been MCC or Ty. Oh well was worth a shot. Thanks again Chris

I'm not contradicting the doc by any means but I would stay far far away from benq (daxon) media. They burn ok initially but will most likely either be unplayable or have major playback errors in as little as 6 months.

it's not a contradiction actually, i started having probs. w/ my benq media after awhile too, while not as bad as CMC MAGs deterioration (personal experience), they do in fact degrade much sooner than Verbatim's MCC or Taiyo Yuden~ :) we see eye-2-eye on this one, hence my last note of

i have found my limited 50-pack of the Sony MIT media to do the SAME thing as the Benq (daxon) media after about 9 months, which is why i PERSONALLY do not purchase Sony MITs :) results will vary from user to user depending on their setups... have a good one buddy~

Chris,

Good choice. You should do fine with either of those.

kivory (doc ty),

You know as well as I we generally do see eye to eye on just about everything. :)
