Ok lets try this again.

i bought a Second Dvd Burner so i could burn disc to disc, but i cannot get a very fast speed while doing this. the process is taking about 1 hr. I DON'T eant to use the drive for ripping or anything like that just to read the disc. I have tried numerous time to change the the transfer rate. this is what my secondary looks like

Device 0
TRANSFER MODE: DMA IF AVAILABLE
CURRENT TRANSFER MODE: ULTRA DMA MODE 2

DEVICE 1
TRANSFER MODE : DMA IF AVAILABLE
CURRENT TRANSFER MODE: PIO MODE <--- THIS ONE NEVER SEEMS TO CHANGE NO MATTER WHAT I DO!

SO IF ANY ONE CAN HELP I'M ALL EARS THANKS

Hi, lblaze

Welcome to AD
Here's a link with a guide to reset your controllers to use DMA mode:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038

In a nutshell, you may have to uninstall the IDE drivers and have windows reinstall them.

Good Luck!

Assuming they are both on the same IDE channel, have you checked to make sure the correct master/slave settings are used?

Edit: John123 suggested yesterday in the other thread you posted about this problem that you try another IDE cable. Have you done that? If so, there may be a problem with the controller itself. Another possibility may be to go into your computer's CMOS setup and reset everything to default.

If they are both internal drives, I would switch them (leaving cables untouched) and see if the problem stays with the new drive (assuming that switch settings have been verified). Also a new drive might have new firmware available for download.
A Nero log might help.

You checked in the bios that the drive is set to 'Auto' detect on boot?
And you have tried uninstalling the primary or secondary channel that the drive is installed to?
Then do a simulation burn with Nero and post the log in the Nero forum.

lblaze,
Welcome to the forum. One thing that comes to mind is a registry conflicts and the OS will reduce from DMA-2 to PIO. See if you can D/L a free registry cleaner and clean the registry of any conflicts and see if that helps. Just make sure that the program you use will backup the registry before cleaning.
