Hello- I have a LiteOn DVD Writer and am trying to convert a PAL DVD to NTSC. I converted the files in Nero Express, but AnyDVD says they are still in PAL video format. If I make my DVD writer region-free, will it make a difference? What is a simple (or not too hard) way to convert the files to play on a region 1 player? Thanks, Kegan

Hello kzm007.

Making your drive region-free only affects the RC and RCP II protections. PAL is a video broadcast standard as is NTSC. Are you sure your DVD player doesn'y play PAL as well as NTSC? If you insert the disk and it plays it, you are good to go. Many newer players automatically play both formats.

I used NeroVision the other day to do an NTSC to PAL conversion just for the heck of it. It worked perfectly for me.

laddyboy- hello again. the DVDs were a gift, which is why I'm asking. My friend's player doesn't support PAL.

And I know how to convert the files in Nero, but AnyDVD still recognizes them as PAL. How do I fix this?

On an unrelated note, because you seem savvy to all this, what would I do to put Saw and Saw II on DVD?

I took the files for Saw and burned them to my HD, then compress, and burnt to a DVD. I am doing the same for Saw II. Both times, I selected 'Full DVD' in CloneDVD 2.

Does this sound workable? Sorry to get off-topic, my cousin is leaving tomorrow and these are a gift, so I'm up trying to fix it up for him. Thanks, Kegan

CloneDVD should handle everything for you. Each should be to a separate disk. You wouldn't want to combine them to a single disk.

As to why AnyDVD says the files are still in PAL format, I don't know. I just looked at the title I converted a few days ago from NTSC to PAL and AnyDVD says it's still NTSC. Yet VOBBlanker says it's PAL. There may be an error in AnyDVD or NeroVision isn't changing a flag. I'm not sure. The disk you converted to NTSC still doesn't play in his player? Did you try VOBBlanker? I linked it in another post in the other thread. Here it is again:
