I've never had this happen before, but when it comes to this kind of thing I'm still an idiot, lol.
Apparently (I didn't see it happen) when the family's main computer was being rebooted, it automatically went to the CMOS utility screen. There's no error that I can see, and the computer has been working fine, it just went into this mode when it was being restarted.
Since I've made a lot of mistakes in the past thinking I know what I'm doing, this time I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me what this means and what I should do about it, since I don't want to mess anything up again. That and I'm not sure if this is a big deal or just one of those things where you press one button and everythings fine again. Could someone please explain this?

If the comp boots to cmos. The only thing that comes to mind, other than if you added a new hard drive or disk drive, is that the battery might be getting weak. Do you turn the whole system off with a power strip, or unplug it from the wall? If so, the only thing saving the hardware configuration is the battery.
Yes, I was thinking it was probably the battery or something, which was why I was worried.
But apparently my dad got it running again, and now everything seems to be fine. But if it did that once, and it was because of the battery, isn't there a chance that it will do that again? Because we havent installed new hardware or anything. So I guess my question now is, it looks ok at the moment, but is it really ok, or will the same thing happen again?
Like nickberry said, it could have just been an accident. I've seen comps do stranger things. If it starts to do it on a regular basis, then worry about it. If it just does it once a month, I wouldn't really worry, re identifying hardware is not necessarily a bad thing.
