I'm currently using a chipless PS2 with HD Advance 2.0. I'd like to get some bootloader for my ps2 though that would automatically load my HD Advance, eliminating the need for the disc, if possible. I don't know if this is possible through Linux for chipping or anything, but if it is please let me know. The reason being is that my PS2 laser stopped reading discs alltogether but my roommate's is fine. I'd like to use his to get the Hard Drive working so I can put it back in mine and avoid buying another. I know they're cheap but I'd prefer not to deal with it. Any help would be most appreciated.

You can use memory exploit if your PS2 still reads CDRs. If it doesn't, then you'll have to get it chipped. :-/

PS2 V9 with Custom Flip Top
MC Exploit
ULaunchELF 3.78
HDLoader 0.8a with 160Gb Maxtor HDD

Nintendo GameCube DOL-001
XenoGC 2.0
POTS adjusted to 400Ohms from 496Ohms and runs everything thrown at it

If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.

If it doesn't read anything at all, then either get a modchip that lets you boot off USB/memory card, or replace a laser.. no way around it it :(

If your PS2 has no modchip, why don't you go to the AS center for fix yours ??
And, AIK, MC exploit needs a PS1 disc for boot.
Or, you have to mod your PS2.

Your PS2 needs to be able to read a PS1 game for a split sec ... Enough time for it to read the MC Exploit and boot HDloader

I'd try that first...
