I know this has been asked before but it seems like everyone has their own sure fire way to convert avi to dvd format. I've tried a lot of them and i'm still looking. The last one, I used VSO ConvertXtoDVD and it worked better but it still goes out of sync a little bit into the movie. I'll hit stop on my dvd player and play and the problem will be fixed then maybe another ten minutes later it does it again the whole way through the movie. The origional avi is fine it just goes bad after it's converted. I've also tried Winavi to no avail. If you would please point me in the right direction I would be very thankful.

Try plaing the dvd in your computer, and see if this happens.

tatjr13 - I have the same exact problem converting tv shows except I DO have the XviD codec on my computer and it still does it. So I doubt the codec is or was your problem.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to this. Some television episodes convert beautifully. Others, it doesn't matter what setting I use on ConvertXtoDVD, I STILL have issues with audio sync. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes, I tried high quality. And aspect changes. And I cleaned crap off my hard drives and cleaned my registry. I've converted these two episodes (out of 60-some) about 10 times each, now, with no success. Sometimes it's just CRAP FILES I guess.

Did you use GSpot to make sure you had it. I had the audio codec but i didn't have the video codec. I'm pretty sure that was the problem because i used the same converting program before the codec and after and after i installed the codec it worked. Good Luck

choirmom, if you're still around, I know EXACTLY what you mean, did you ever find a solution that works for you? I was having great success with Nero and one day, it just stopped working properly. After a million different things, thought I had v 7.0.8.2 working, nope, now I have the a/v out of sync dvd's too.

I think there must be ONE good program out there that can do what Nero used to. I would just like simple menus/chapters and an all in one program to transcode/burn from AVI to dvd.

I have had a couple of successful DVD's with DVDSanta, but you don't get any menus, at least it breaks it to chapters automatically, but you can't shrink anything to fit other than StandardPlay. With Nero you could select quality setting to go from highest to long and extended play, etc., which was a great feature depending on what you were burning, for me LP or even EP was a great setting for hardly any noticeable loss of quality [on a smaller tv] and fitting more episodes onto one DVD.
