That's right. Most, if not all movie studios have ceased to release their movies to UMD. There are a lot of reasons for the failure of the format. Heck even Sony pictures have dropped it.

Always use good quality blank media. Verbatim is always a good call. Don't be seduced by those 50-spindles you find in the $2.99 bin at your local car wash! :)

It would help if there was a UMD player because otherwise you're buying all of your movies twice. No point.

Or even if it was easy to connect your PSP to your TV. I'm not even sure if thats possible.

It is, but the result isn't worth it. But yeah, if the functionality to play it on the TV through the PSP was there, I'd buy UMD movies. but then you'd always have to have your PSP, so I think it would be easier to just produce UMD players.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sony did that, as a last ditch effort to suck as much money as they can from us.

I think if the UMD movies were less expensive than DVDs it would help their sales. I can't see how people would pay 20-25 bucks for a UMD movie. Maybe if they were 5-10 dollars to beat out 15 dollar DVDs I would go for it.

That too. Damn, they're always more than a regular DVD.

Yeah sony shot themselves in the foot with that. Because at least with DVDs you can play them in most computers, DVD players, some consoles, etc. With those dumb UMD movies they are limited to ONE means of play, and that alone. They they go and charge more for a proprietary format than for a more universal format(DVDs)? C'mon sony, who is the idiot that made that decision? If anything proprietary formats should be cheaper in my opinion, but that probably violates all kinds of marketing rules.

Yea. What I don't get is why anyone would pay Sony licensing fees to use their formats anymore. All of their proprietary formats have flopped.
