DVD Lab Pro audio problem

I have a vid clip that's a couple mins long. I converted it from avi to mpeg using TMPGenc Plus 2.5. Everything converted fine. I added the files to DVD Lab and demuxing went ok as well. But when I went to play back the file to make sure everything was ok, there was no audio. Does anybody know what I could have possibly done wrong?

If I'm not mistaken, the audio was encoded as mpeg-1,mp2 or something like that. It wouldn't let me use the CBR linear option. I can't remember as I'm typing this strictly from memory. The stream type was set to System(vid+aud).

If my AVI-files have VBR-audio stream before converting with TMPGEnc, audio doesn't work after convert.

And it's faster to use ES (Video + Audio), then TMPGEnc makes separate video & audio, so you don't have to Demux them in DVD-lab.

Thanks for the reply Devenec! But how do I know if the AVI is VBR audio stream before I encode it? If I let TMPGEnc separate the files, does the audio file it create work in DVD Lab?

You can check the audio stream with GSpot:

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/gspot.cfm

If the audio stream is VBR-type, you can save WAV-version with VirtualDubMod and convert that to mp2 with TMPGEnc.

Audio will work with DVD-lab, but it has to be mp2 and 48 000 kHz.

You need to open the AVI in GSpot to see if it has VBR audio stream.
In Audio-section, GSpot shows if audio has CBR or VBR stream.

When you convert with TMPGEnc, do you use Wizard? I don't use wizard, I click "Load" in lower right corner and select "DVD(PAL).mcf"-file. TMPGEnc loads DVD-settings and then I just convert with ES (Video + Audio) setting.

I think I may have solved my problem. According to the DVD Lab's website, you can't hear the audio in the preview window. If I drag the audio clip to the preview window, it plays with media player. Does this sound about right or can you hear the audio in the preview window?

You can't hear sound while viewing video in preview.

I understood that you burned it already and there were no sound in DVD...

I'm sorry that I didn't make myself more clear - I was referring to the preview window in DVD Lab. I have not made the disc yet.

Hey, I had the same concern too..now audio in the preview..I'm just now learning by the seat of my pants too with DVD-LaB Pro..Just wait until you compile for the first time!..if you have the "run test" checked in the options don't be worried if it just compiles just 75mb test DVD Video_TS file...with your motion menus and movie replaced with a TEST Screen Image...
