My Ps2 Wont read games and makes a cliking sound? Help Please?

ok my PS2 wont read the games and DVD's.It also makes a weird cliking sound.Does anyone know whats wrong with it and how to fix it.

Sounds like a laser problem, try cleaning the laser lens.

Fat PS2 or Slim PS2?

if it's a Fat PS2 it could need a laser adjustment

lasers are quite expensive for the fat ps2's unfortantly cause i had to replace my laser for my slim ps2 and i was looking at the prices and the price for a fat ps2 laser is about double the price compared to the slim ps2's laser

The good thing about the old PS2 is that you can get a network adaptor + HDLoader and play games off the HDD without paying for too much, but yeah the laser is bloody expensive

I will NEVER go the slim PS2 route and use a USB HD..
only compatible with 6% of games SLOW and not worth it... If my laser in my Fat PS2 goes I'll buy a FAT PS2 ....

Hdloader / network Adaptor combo is compatible with 75% of the games out there and those that aren't I'll play from disc with Swapmagic..

Laser replacement is only worth it if you have a slim PS2 ver 12 and you can do it yourself... if you pay someone to do it by the time you pay for the Laser + Shipping and then ship the PS2 to get it's laser replace + the cost to install it + Shiipping to ship it back.. You might as well have bought a used Fat PS2....

have you took off the dvd drive cover?
if you have with the try in look at the white tab under the dvd drive if is not all the way to the left push it gently until it stops.

thats only if you have the cover off i wouldent screw it up worse if you dont have to

[in other words your dvd tray might not be all the way in]
