Or should I still search around ebay and what not for a deal?
Im somewhat broke at the moment since I assume Ill also need at least a 2gb stick which is another $100.

YES! It's definitely worth it! You can find a 2G stick for about $60 on newegg.com. I would get it for sure.

Because a friend of mine came up to me and this is how the conversation went
HIm "I just got a psp , in the box brand new for $200."
Me "What firmware was it?"
Him "Some old 1.5, but dont worry I upped it to that new 2.71. now how do I play games off my stick"
Me *claps friend on the back* "1.5 only my friend"
Him "damn, hes got more, maybe I can swap"

You won't find better deal on ebay. A brand new 1.50 would sell close to $300 on there.

Nah i doubt it, this guy is clueless with the internet, a myspace fiend.
And he only got it yesterday.
He would have known to keep a 1.5 had he been knowledgeable like me.
I dont have one but im on the up n up.
