I have made several attempts to Backup the above title's. The first and third installments Burn and Play fine but the second movie Burns fine but simply will not play on the same macine as the others. All will play on my P.C. I have used the same media on all the movies and the same ripping software DVD Decrypter. All the movies are under 4.3GB so will fit on a DVD -R.

der, der, der, der, der, der ,der.
(I hate snakes)

LOL

Anyway, for my money.

If you have done 2 out of 3 with no problems, using the same media - my suggestions:

Is the original OK?
Did you change ANY settings when ripping/processing? (VIDEO_TS folder)
May have just been a bad burn?
What burning program are you using/version?
What is your overall method ie dvd decrypter/dvd2one/recnowmax etc?

Show a little Backbone baabaa!!!.

I really am at my wits end on this one, to answer yourquestions.

Original Fine plays in any machine,
No settings changed,
Burnt for the 4th time,
DVDDecrypter latest version
Al movies under 4.38gb so just using DVDDecrypter,
However if i copy the movie to a DVD-RW it works fine. Same Movie, same software everything. Work that out.

Yep, that ones out there with the arc I think.

I take it that u r using dvd decrypter in ISO mode to read and write?

Have you any other burning software such as nero or recordnowmax, as I would recommend to use one of them irrespective of whether they are under 4.38Gb?

Have u got dvd2one or dvdshrink?

dvdshrink is available as a free d/l here on afterdawn.

What I would try, is rip the complete dvd to the hd.

Run it through dvdshrink.

Then burn and see if it works, however you will need nero/recordnowmax to do this.

I don't know whether this is true, but I believe dvd-rw are slightly bigger in capacity, and it maybe that the 2nd dvd is just too big, even though it burns.

I have had problems with dvd decrypter when burning and that is why I now use recordnowmax.

I could probably do those no problems just by using the following:

dvd decrypter to rip
dvd2one OR dvdshrink to process and produce correct format dvd
recordnowmax to burn the VIDEO_TS folder.

If the disc IS under 4.36Gb then dvd2one or dvdshrink will NOT reduce it, therefore the quality shall remain.

You mentioned 4.38Gb, this seems a little to high, and will propbably be closer to 4.5Gb actually.

To be honest the plot thickens. I had been using DVDDecrypter but after reading your last post i tried Burning it through Nero 5. Unfortunately the outcome is exactly the same, DVD Player tries reading the disk for 20-30 seconds and spits it out. I know i stated about the 4.38GB thing, this one that is giving me problems is well under that 4.16GB. From memory i had the same problem with the Wild Thornberry's Movie. DVD-R will not play DVD-RW would play on my Decca 12'Record Player, thats how confident i am.

Oh wel back to the Holsten Pills Lager.

The other 2 discs, are they on -r or -rw?

Wierd, I cannot see what the problem could be.

Have u tried different burning options within nero?

The files are in a folder VIDEO_TS (uppercase) aren't they?

Have you made them region free?

What files have you for the 2nd disc:ie ifo/bup/vob etc.

Believe me i am that paranoid about this issue it is unbelievable. I have looked at the files that have been transfered to the HD and they look fine.Defraged HD incase of some sort of corruption but still the same. All the discs are on the same media, all are Rgion Zero, thats region free i think. There are 5 VOB,2 BUP, and 2 IFO files. There is nothing seemingly out of the ordinary, file sizes look credible. Remember if i burn the Exact same file to a DVD-RW it works fine. I am only trying to Backup this DVD save me going downstairs to fetch it.

Well that is a geniune reason to me for backing up.

Have you a fully stocked fridge upstairs too LOL

What options did you choose in nero?

What is your dvd player?

I shall pm you with a small nero guide, have a look and see if it makes sense.

From Nero i choose Video Files, Add,Finish, and then Burn. The file size in the Desktop folder created is the same as the file Burnt, roughly speaking anyway.
