I was wonder what i should get if i were to buy a ps2. Witch ones is easyer to play backup games on (with minimum soldering). and what whould i need to make back ups of games? And were can i find a ps2 for a cheap price(on a trusted site)
links would be great
i say spend the extra money and go premodded.
DMS4 Pro or Matrix Infinity (i prefer DMS4 Pro)
Teammodders has new slimline models, refurbished slimline models, and used V7 models all premodded. I have all my work done by them.
Then there is no soldering at all, just take it out of the box and you are ready to play both PAL & NTSC back ups.
true, cheaper for a reason though.
Swap Magic is a hassle compared to a good mod chip
It also doesn't have all the features a mod chip will, the ease of use a mod chip will either.
and most reputable stores (Gamestop) still sell the used models for $99, the good chip would be $50, the install would be $35-50 plus shipping
Swap Magic + magic switch os like $30 plus shipping then the $99 PS2
but the choice is yours, i can only offer advice. And that advice is you get what you pay for. The chip is far better then Swap Magic.
i agree with steimy get a premodded.
Because if you get the used ps2 by the time you paid for a ps2 and the shipping + a mod chip + having the ps2 shipped to and from the place were they put the chip in. you could of had the money to get a premodded.
To burn the games you will need:
1.A decent computer
2.a dvd burner
3.good quality DVDR or cdr
4. dvd decryptor + Nero or alcohal 120% or Dvd x copy
(;
i like the swap magic idea and i saw that there is a usb way to ...can u explain this to me... and werer can i buy a ps2 for $50 (except ebay).... and isnt dvd burner illegal?
no a DVD burner can be bought in about any electronics store
If you are talking about playing games from a USB hard drive then search the net for USB Extreme which is what you need
although it saves laser life USB is slower than an internal hard drive. So it will be no faster with it's load times then if you used a disc.
I do not know anyone who sell qyality PS2's for $50
thanx steimy
3 questions and can u use any external hard drive with it, and is to for both the old and the slim ps2, and do all the games for or are they not work
ok, the last part i am not real sure what the question was but i will take a stab at it anyway.
1. you use USB extreme with an external USB hard drive, yes
Swap Magic would not be affected at all as USB Extreme is what loads games off the hard drive
2. Yes, you can use both Swap Magic and USB Extreme with any model PS2. And external hard drive you would only use with a slimline ans the older models you would get the much better internal hard drive and use HD Loader instead of USB Extreme to load games. Unless you got a DMS4 Pro mod chip in an older model, it has built in HD Loader so you would have everything needed.
3. i would say that you will find that about 90-95% of your games should work off the hard drive.
an internal hard drive is much better. It will increase the games loading times a lot. USB is slower so it will not be any faster then using a disc. And internal hard drive is very easy to use with an older model, It can also be used with a slimline but you are looking at spending a lot more money to get the slimline put in an HD Combo case with an internal hard drive. Then it would look like the older model PS2.
Best bet would be gettin a dvd burner so it does dvd and cd. Also get some good media. I think Vertaibal(spelling off) for DVD and i like Ridata for CD. Ridata is just some cheap but it works.
