Just recently my Pre-modded PS2 almost pratically died. First, Only DVD movies and PS1 games would boot. Next, nothing on a disc would boot only the BIOS would show. After that now nothing comes up on screen and there's seems to be a couple second delay in my systems power up (Where the fan turns on).

I really have no clue of where the problem may lie, If I'm stuck in also purchasing another PS2 I don't want to have to by another $300 plus on a premodded one.

I'm not sure if my modchip store's warranty covers this (I only have like 1 month left on it)
I also had a nice slimline PS2 Mobile screen that only works on the smaller models and from what I've seen there are no solderless PS2 slimline modchips, they only make them for the Fat PS2s.
I am also looking towards the HDD of USB extreme, but not sure if a modchip is required and such.

My modchip is the Matrix Inifinite, and I actually did the Triangle + Circle thing and the menu for that shows up. I've really never experienced a problem close to what I'm having right now.
I also have the V12 PS2 if that helps.

i would surely take it back and have them check it out. at least then they could tell you if it was a mocdchip problems (which they should fix under warranty) or some other problem that you would have to pay for.
You say there is a delay, does the fan come on at all?
Does the system boot and then shut down in a very short period of time?
Did you get a laser fix installed with the premodded system? It is needed with a V12, especially with a mod chip.

You're better off using a q-tip and rubbing alcohol instead of one of those lens cleaners. It's cheaper and you'll do a better job cleaning it by hand.

agree, i have heard bad things about lens cleaners and PS2's
plus because of where the brushes are most of them will not even poke through the disc tray where they need to.
I always go someplace and buy the lens cleaning solution that those type of discs use, then put it on a Q-Tip and use that.
It is slightly less harsh then Alcohol, but that will also work.

I actually got my USB Extreme disc today, went through the instructions, but my the disc won't boot. It shows up in the browser, but after I try booting it, the system returns me back to the PS2 browser. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

is this after you cleaned the laser?
Or tried adjusting the laser?

I tried cleaning it, and as well as adjusting it (like 3 times). I don't know if it could be a burnt out laser. I have been booting from back ups since Day 1 of getting my Pre-modded PS2. I actually usually clean the laser like every 1-2 months anyways.
