Okay, I have a standalone DVDR and have a couple of discs with home video transfers on them. How do I get them onto my computer to edit them and what's the best free program to edit them, Windows Movie Maker?

I've tried using several "rippers" but I get wierd formats and such that I can't use in WMM. I did find a trial of Magic DVD Ripper, but it can only be used 5 times. It worked great, though.

Any help, please?

Because I'm not going to pay $40.00 for a program I'm only going to need to use this one time. That's ludacris, besides, I know there has to be another way that doesn't cost anything, why spend money that I don't really have to be spending in the first place?

How many times have you used it.

Why not just uninstall it and re install it and re use it

How are you getting the video files onto your HDD drive now? Is there a VIDEO_TS folder that you could run through a program like DVD Shrink?

for my method to work you'd need to also take it out of your registry so that there are no residual files lurking.

I've only used it 3 times, so I have 2 times left.

They are in a Video_TS folder on the DVD+R. Does DVD Shrink allow you to rip them in MPEG format?
