Hey.

I've joined the military. Now I know that I'm allowed to take my PSP there, so I will.

I have 1.5 and I'm able to recharge the PSP there but I have no way to get new content to it.

So I'm asking what software should I upload to my PSP for my military service?

I already have a SNES emulator and over 700 roms, but that's not enough.

Then I have PSPRadio and Links2. There might be WiFi somewhere on the barracks but most likely not accesible to us.

Thanks for any pointers.

EDIT: I have a 1 Gigabyte MS.

Basic training or have you already passed thru basic? I will give you a heads up now:

Trust no one. I was in the ARMY for 4 years and I had SO MUCH stuff stolen, it's not funny. A PSP is a pretty appealing item for a thief and you'll never get it back. Put it in your wall locker when not in use. NEVER leave it lying around. Seriously. Or if you prefer, you can wrap it in toilet paper and place it behind one of the loose bricks in the room. Just remove the loose brick from the wall. Or you can put it above the ceiling tiles, nicely tucked away.

A/f/a apps and games, you should d/l the following:

File Assistant by 71M (with this, you can do more on your PSP than you could ever do w/ your PSP connected to the PC via USB. You can browse files, rename, delete, move, etc. all while on the go! The program is amazing.)

Daedalus N64 Emulator by Strmn N64 emulator. Not done yet, and runs pretty slowly, but you can still play Super Mario 64 on your PSP!!! That's cool enough!

NesterJ by Ruka Nintendo Entertainment System emulator. Play Super Mario Bros. on the go, homeslice!

There's a few. I have around 120 homebrew on my PSP and I don't really use the games much anymore. Just the apps and I don't even use all of those.

PM if you want more suggestions and I'll go thru my list...

For the internet in the barracks: You will find a lot of ppl in teh military have their own laptops and PCs. Find someone who has a wifi
router and ask them if you can use their signal. (Or just piggy back)

Or you can buy wifiMAX which I've heard sucks and you can pay them a nominal monthly fee to share their access.

After that, if you can't use a computer, go the post library and make sure you have a USB cable. If you want to download homebrew and stuff directly to your PSP, use a program called Titan Homebrew Manager by McZonk

Hope all this helps, little buddy.

This is Charlie Sierra Delta Four One Niner. How do you copy? Over.

Wonderful! Thanks!

Your post was really helpful, especially the pointers about PSP being interesting. Well, I will store it in the footlocker when not in use by me or any of my group members.

I also got myself a Joytech protective plastic armor, which basically only leaves the buttons and the sides open, shielding everything else. This should be useful.

Guess I'm all set then. The file manager should be useful if I can edit files with it, since most PSP homebrew can't resolve DNS for some strange reason, and my PC has a dynamic IP address, which I can get by calling my family if it changes.

Thanks again.
