Hi I just bought a spindle of Verbatim DVD+R and it says it was made in India. I have heard that the Verbatims made in India are of a bad quality and the ones made in Japan are of a good quality. I was actually hoping for the Japan ones (but thats njust my bad luck :( ).

This leads me to my question. Does anyone have a list of Verbatim DVD+R and DVD+RW dyes and their respective model numbers. I have searched on the internet and haven't found one yet. My dvds are MCC004 and the manufacturing number is 43500.

Also does anyone know what the best Verbatim DVD+RW would be and what dye/metal alloy it would use. Does anyone know the maximum writes that a DVD+RW can do if a DVD can do higher than 1000 writes.

Personally I don't use +RW discs but the ones you have with the MCC codes are great media (Verbatime of course). Heres a hopefull link to check with some of your questions. Hope it helps.

You would be hard-pressed to find any Verbatim +R made in Japan (MIJ) or Singapore (MIS), they're pretty much made in Taiwan (MIT). The +R DL are a different story, you can find them MIS. The +RW (what I've seen) are also MIT. This is not necessarily bad as Verbatim is probably only good name brand that is MIT.

They're pretty much using the same general dye (azo) with slightly different variations for +r or -r. The longtime forum members will be able to confirm this.

Hi I checked those websites and it didn't quite help me. What I was looking for was the BEST Verbatim DVD+R and DVD+RW media code so that I could by it. Hopefully some of the senior members could help me out seeing as they have tested so many DVDs.

Most people say that the 16x Verbatim (MCC04), is a tad worse than their 8x media (MCC03) but not much. All verbatim media is about the same. If you were looking for the best disks period I would say Taiyo Yuden disks and many other members would agree. Also, Verbatim is the only good media coming from anywhere other than Japan. It doesnt come from Japan unless you find The Taiyo Yuden manufactured Verbatims. Also, Taiyo Yudens are the made in Japan discs.

You got to understand that unless you're buying from an reputable online store that gives you the media code, you can't be certain what dvd codes you will be getting.

From personal experience, the 16x +r MIT are made by 2 different manufacturer's even though they code out the same. I believe there was even a mention on cdfreaks regarding this. Once again this is not necessarily bad as those manufacturer's have to abide by Verbatim's quality control.

Like Jondrew said, if you must have MIJ and am concerned about quality, go buy the Taiyo Yuden discs.
