ok, just after xmas i built myself a new pc, it is running very sweetly at the moment and havent had a thing go wrong on me...thank god

Before xmas however i had been unemployed, and well kinda addicted to XBC and the xbox in general! so when i got the new job at xmas, the pc was the first thing to be replaced...when i replaced the p.c i couldnt get the xbox to connect to it....tried EVERYTHING on this site..i mean EVERYTHING trying to get it to work but with no avail!!!

now, i have some time off now, and im dying for a game of halo...its been six months people!!! 6!!! so after putting this on the long finger for long enough, im determained to get this, and xbmc working properly!!

ok so ive tried every ip config. setting on this site, and i know the default gateway needs to be the same as the pcs ip and all

so im thinking to must be the settings or permissions of windows xp, which is professional corporate edition.

i have ruled out a fault in my ethernet port as i can connect to my modem/router to it. and ruled out a fault with my xbox as my laptop can connect to it! i just cant get on to connect to the other!!!

so all i can really think of is permissions or something!!

oh and on a small other note, when i built me new pc, the old modem i had wouldnt work on it for some unknown reason! so i was sent this new modem by my ispp it is a zyxel prestige 600 series....so i don't know maybe this could be conflicting with me connecting to other devices?!?!

thanks a million for any help you can give me...i am seriously p!ssed with this...and its been 6 long months without a good old game of team slayer on coagulation!!

Hmmmmm...One option would be to check your routers settings, find out what the FTP transfer port is and make sure its enabled. Ummmm, just double check everything. Make sure that your xboxs ip is the one your trying to connect to with your ftp software and theres no errors. Try changing your xboxs ip, but before find out if you don't know, the allowed ips from your router, what there ranges are. Good luck with this, hope it works out!

If I can i'd be glad to help, so just PM me! :-)

Okay, this might be a stupid question, but i'm sure its happened before. You do have 2 ethernet cards, right? Ones connected to the internet and ones connected to the XBox? If this is true then, try manually changing your ip to sometihng similar to your default gateway.
Example:
If your default gateway is 192.168.2.1 then enter something like 192.168.2.4 as your ip on the ethernet card thats connected to the XBox. You won't be able to access the internet more then likely, but you will be able to FTP to the xbox. After you FTP just go back and set the xbox ethernet card back to Get IP Automatically. I knows its a bother to do it everytime you want to FTP, but if you really want to play, this is how I do it. My connection is like yours with the 2 ethernet cards and for some reason the xbox ethernet card can FTP, the other one does not work. Please write again to let me know if this worked for you. From what you said, I would almost GUARUNTEE that this will work.

If I can i'd be glad to help, so just PM me! :-)

The only thing I know to do would be to change the ip on the card to the xbox anyways, just to try it. Other then that, I have no idea.

This has me stumped.

You asked this earlier...how do i change the settings on my router?? 198.168.1.1???

Open the internet and put your default gateway in the address bar and go to it. You should get a password username prompt. Get in and then you can see the connections that your router has recorded, you can also look around for the FTP port. Its probably 21 by default, which is good, thats FlashFXPs default port number. Just make sure its enabled.

Another thing, i'm not to familiar with other dashboards, but if you are using EvoX, go to seetings and make sure that FTP is enabled there also. Hope you get this working. Good luck!

If I can i'd be glad to help, so just PM me! :-)

ok, list your settings
PC, Xbox and FTP program
http://www.teammodders.com/viewforum.php?f=45
there are a few real good FTP tutorials there that will show you how everytyhing is USUALLY set up.
They also have a live chat feature on the homepage if anyone happens to be around when you log in. They may be able to help you in real time.
They got me up and running but i have found that the method i used seems to be different then just about any tutorial i have read.
example:
they alway say to set up a static connection, mine is set to
Staic: No because i use a DHCP connection.
I did have to set up network sharing.
i beleive when you set up the new connection on the PC with the wizard, that when you set it up to DHCP the next time the Xbox is started it will automaticallly assign it an IP address in the correct range.

ok, i figured it must be something to do with dhcp...soooo i had just put together a htpc box and was messing around trying to network that...god thats going to be fun!!! NOT! lol!....i had those both set to a manual ip selection, but the problem that i had was that i couldnt set the xbox to generate a manual ip so when the little computers woke up with limited connectivity, then i ipconfiged to see what the pc was giving as its ip and then changed the xbox accordingly...so i do have somesort of connectivity now!!

however i cant connect with flashftp nor ipswitch...keeps on timing out..

also im gonna need some help on xbmc too...god why am i doing this to myself!! lol!!

thanks a million for all your helps so far...its really appriciated

Well i'll be gone for 2 weeks, but i've been working with XBMC alot lately so even though I couldn't help on the connecting thing, maybe I can tell you something about that. If you want to use XBMC as a dashboard, which I reccomend. Use http://www.teamuix.com/uix/page.php?11 That is a great program for this because its quick and easy and works. I'll be gone for 2 weeks, going to Florida for Fathers day, hope you get everything working!

If I can i'd be glad to help, so just PM me! :-)

so, now my xbox' ip is 192.168.0.2 and my pc is 192.168.0.1, they show that they are connected in both the evox dash and on the taskbar of my pc, however i cant ping the box...it just times out...nor will flash ftp work on it either...also times out!
