i was making a backup of the movie called "Fire", at first everything seems to work fine(i first used dvd fab decrypter) until it got to the burning process it freezes up with the dvd drive spinning, i even tried with nero alone & it does the same thing. if i restart the pc the dvd drive still spins & i can't eject, i have to turn off the pc then turn on to remove the dvd disc from the drive.

If your running any programs try closing them. Including being online. I sometimes have the same problem and this seems to work. Good luck it's about the only advice I could give.

Oh yeah also try defragmenting.

Hi nicekid
Just to add to Snatched great suggestions - what brand of discs are your using? Burn speed?
Look for the last Nero log and post that. Has some good info in it.
For Nero 6 they are located at program files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt
For Nero 7 - program files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.txt
Just be sure to edit out the serial # - they usually begin with 1A, 1C or 5C.

I would agree with Binkie's suggestion. I think it's the media. Either it's poor media and (or) it's incompatible with the drive. Maybe you should update the firmware of the drive.

all programs were closed, most;y everything is updated, have over 17 gigs left on hard drive, always use verbatims at auto max burnspeed, never had a problem, as a matter of fact made 2 backups(16 Blocks & Aquamarine) right before "Fire", this is what nero had in history & it didn't even register today's trials:

First let's edit out those serial #'s - they begin w/ 1A at the top of the log. Don't need someone else using them!
Quote:
Nero API version: 6.6.0.12
Update to this version of Nero - it's the last one of version 6 to autoburn w/ Shrink.

Disc Manufacturer: MCC 03 - RG20
Great media but your getting this SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND
So let's also try taking the burn speed down to 8x.
Try those and let us know howi t goes.

A system defrag and disc cleanup is always good to do to.

Do the other updates and reduce the burn speed. Let us know how that turns out - good, bad or otherwise!

In Shrink when you click back up click on the the burn settings tab and you can change it there (see pic below)
If it fails again you can post the new log.

What problem did have with the other movie you tried - another burn error?

burn settings are as follows:
maximum, 4.0x, 8.0x, 16.0x

i removed DVD Shrink & re-installed & still has problems.
it said dvd srhink encountered a problem & i can't take a screenshot of anything while all this is going on.
now i'll try removing Nero.

Okay pick the 8x option for your next burn.

The next error you received on the different movie sounds like Shrink can't handle the copy protection. Which movie is it?

When you install Nero update to the version I linked to above.

You're welcome nicekid!
Digicam can't be of much help there but check out the forum at aD for Digital Camcorders.
Or is it related to transfering the video to the pc and burning?

yes, it is to do with transferring & burning on dvd.
the program that came with the firewire card is ulead 5.0 dv, it seems to be a tideous process & it comes out as .avi, which i have to transfer(not sure to what)again & still have yet to burn to dvd. i was wondering is there a simpler way to transfer from digicamcorder to pc & then burn on dvd.

Hi nicekid
Not big at all in the camcorders - but try using Nero Vision>capture video to hard drive' Same deal though as Ulead - save to the hard drive. You would then use Vision again (make a dvd option) to convert the AVI and burn to disc. Whole process may take a bit.
To see if there's a better/faster way or program check out this forum:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/forum_view.cfm/55
Good Luck!
