It's not an ISO? A UMD is doing this? Wow bro, your UMD drive might be screwed up. Do you live in a house where there is a lot of smoke? In other words do ppl smokes cigarettes/marijuana/cigars or anything in your house? b/c that smoke settles on the UMD drive lens and you have to clean it. It's easy and I would recommend cleaning the lens every month or so anyway. Just use a Qtip dipped in some isopropyl alcohol and rub it on the lens itself. That will clean it nicely. I used to do that to my PS2 (tho I would have to open the damn thing up b/c I had first gen) had to clean the lens when the PS2 got sluggish and it always worked great after I did that.

hahaha no i dont smoke..:) nobody in this house smoke..:) hahaha. thanks for the cleqaning tip though, ill make use of it come the time.. however its a new psp bout a week old.. other games have no prob though.. the prob is exclusively on the ghost in the shell umd. also its exclusive on the start up screen. the links function as always however their just blank instead of START and SAVE GAME. when u click START in side it there are four blank choices instead of NEW GAME, OPTIONS, etc. i wanna return i got it for free hahaha when i bought my psp..:) any other suggestions?

Yea, actually, it sounds defective. I would return it and just get another copy of Ghost in the Shell. Have you played SAC (Stand Alone Complex) for PSP yet? It kinda sucks, but it's not that bad. I mean it can be kinda fun. Especially since Tachikoma follows you everywhere and she's kinda funny. If you wanna exchange it for another copy, go ahead. You can also try something else like CARS looks pretty cool. Btw, what's your PSP version?

You might wanna change the prx w/ a 1.50 game, but as for me, I "trick" changed my PSP to a 2.00 using SXT Version changer, daxed the original virgin ISO and it came out to be like 385MB (approx) Then I launch it w/ dax and it works great! Do it whichever way you want, but trick changing your Firmware is the easier way.

What SXT Version changer? If I can use devhook v41d that has 2.0 and 2.5 FW and it's better.

Yea but tricking your firmware is such as an easier method for running early UMD games that required 2.0.

@ ikari_t:

Woah, don't get me wrong, dude. I don't think I recommended Cars as I haven't even played it yet. I was just saying it looks really cool. A/f/a what games I'm playing now. Boy, I've purchased a ton of new games lately b/c I've found the compatability for ISOs is up for the 1.50. (Props Booster, for the newest installment of DevHook!) What games I'm playing now:

Syphon Filter, Splinter Cell, GTA:LCS (I never stop playing that one), Ridge Racer (nope, still haven't beaten it), ToCA 2, WRC (World Rally Championship), Colin McRae Rally '05 plus, Infected, Ghost in the Shell (actually, I haven't even played that game since last year! LOLz!), Need for Speed: Most Wanted (Underground Rivals sucks bigtime!), MediEvil Resurrection, SOCOM (I would like to get back into, actually. I haven't played that since December), and I think that's about it, but I'm forgetful so there's prob one or two more I'm forgetting. I counted last night. I have 13 PSP games. So if that isn't 13, I don't know what to tell you. (I didn't count them.)

So you really have a 2.00 and you only got it a week ago? You got an icredible deal. Here, I wanna share something with you: ISOs. It's just like a .jpg extension, it's ".iso" but it's a DVD image. The PSP can read these images w/ ISO loaders, but only if it's a v1.50. Here are some of the loaders: DevHook 0.41d (newest version), Fastloader v0.7 (mostly only 1.50 games), UMDEMULATOR and DAXZISO. This is running games from your memory stick at its finest. The benefits of playing games from your memory stick, or ISOs, is:

Battery life lasts longer b/c the PSP doesn't have to work the lens or other moving parts inside the PSP.

Life of the PSP is extended b/c the parts inside the PSP aren't being used. (Again, lens, and spinning the disc)

Load times on games are faster (sometimes cut in half!) b/c the PSP doesn't have to buffer the game information by loading as the info is already on your MS.

You don't have to carry UMD games w/ you everywhere you go if you have a big enough MS b/c they will all be on your MS. So that lightens the load.

There are other benefits, but playing ISOs rocks and that's why I say 1.50 rulz!!! Not only that, but you have the easiest and fastest access to homebrew. (User created software. In other words, ppl that buy the PSP who make their own programs.) I know you don't have any problems w/ 2.00, but ask anyone here - you should definitely downgrade so you can enjoy the benefits. The 1.50 can do pretty much everything even the 2.60 can do. (I can't remember if I already said that in this thread. I'm typing really quickly b/c I'm at work.)

Hope that helps, dude. Any other questions, just PM b/c I can't always remember which threads I've posted in.

Peace,
guano

EDIT: You said the Ghost in the Shell disc read error is a minor problem... can you even play the game at all? It sounds like some of the embedded information or linking information is screwy. Hey, if it works for you, that's cool. I know if I spent 50 bucks on a game and it was effed up, I'd be first in line at the local gamestop...

Wrong again, Juan - W/ DevHook 0.41d, you've got:

1.50
1.51
1.52
2.00
2.01
2.50

I love it. I just keep mine in 2.50 emulation and use "Home + L/R" to select games. So much faster than going into PSP\GAME menu and choosing a loader, then going into the loader and choosing a game to load the icon on the System Menu (If you don't use DevHook v0.22 for Direct Load)

I only sed the three FW that you will use. Where do you get all the other FW if it only has the 1.5,2.0,2.5 and 1.5F folders? Why will you use DH v22 for 1.5 iso? Can't you run them in v41?How do you run 1.5 iso in DH v41?What setting?

I was being a retard, Juan. Sorry to mislead you. I meant it was like having those versions of PSP. Since w/ DevHook v0.41d, you can emulate a 2.50, you have already surpassed the other software versions. Sorry for the mixup. And I was only saying you can use DevHook v0.22 w/ UMDEMULATOR or even w/ DAXZISO. If you still wanna know the set up on DevHook v0.22 to be used w/ UMDEMULATOR and DAXZISO for Direct Load, post and I'll give you the settings. Otherwise, yes - you can use DevHook v0.41d for 1.50 ISOs as well.

For me, I have found the settings listed below work for ALL of my games and I have about 8 games running w/ DevHook v0.41. Here are the settings:

select CELL.iso or whatever you named it
UMD mount:..ISO ANYUMD
UMD version:2.xx
firmware:...2.50
CPU clock:..333mhz
reboot:.....XMB

Just realise when you choose "Firmware" it is going to give you the choices of like 1.50, 2.00 and 2.50 or some ISH. BUT - that is w/ the NEWEST DevHook v0.41d. If you have any other version it will look like this:

Firmware: 2.xx->2.50

and you have to choose that. As I had said, I use these settings on all of my games and it works everytime. I have tried 222 MHz on some games and I don't really ever have good luck w/ that setting.

I don't know if that's what you needed, Juan, but I hope that helps.

Download DevHook v0.22

open it up just as you would w/ any other homebrew

Choose your ISO, hit X
Skip over the Flash option as it wasn't available w/ this release
Set CPU clock for w/e you want it at hit X
For BOOT SELECT, choose HOOK BOOT hit X

Now go into DAXZISO choose your ISO, but hit SQUARE choose w/e settings you had before.

Most times, it will be:

CPU: 222 OR 333 - you choose
EMU MODE: DIRECT LOAD
DISCTYPE: GAME
DISCTYPE: GAME
UPDATER: REMOVE
USE BOOT.BIN: ON (MOSTLY EVERYTIME)
REGIONCODE OVERRIDE: off
REGIONCODE GAME: regionfree
REGIONCODE VIDEO: regionfree
REGIONCODE AUDIO: regionfree
Flash 0 EMU: off (Unless it's a 2.xx game, you're gonna want the 2.xx flash0 and flash1 files in DAXZISO w/ the STOCK mphgameloader.prx)
Flash 1 EMU: SAME AS ABOVE
ALLOCATE TABLES: Sometimes on, sometimes off; depends on the game.

You can do this in DAXZISO OR UMDEMULATOR

Now when you start the game, it won't go to replace the icon in the XMB. It will start the game straight away.

Have fun!

BTW, don't thank me - I didn't figure this out on my own. I think it was Bombayboy who told me how to do this, but if you REALLY wanna thank someone, thank Booster!
