In my mind, it is a hoax. There's no proof yet that says this thing is real.

How do they have anything confirmative? They're going on the word on the mod-chip "makers" who probably sent some very convincing emails and what not.

I have to agree with Thirst. This news makes the chip seem that more sketchy, since UP was supposed to the the high firmware psp owners were waiting for. Seems convienent that they just now figure out that not all psp's will be compatible with the chip....

WHERE'S THE PROOF? You're giving me "proof" that the mod-chip exists without any actual proof. Episilon isn't confirmed and all I've heard about it is one thing. No one gives press releases about mod-chips without showing evidence and videos and pictures.

Only time will tell, i think it would be funny if some cracks 2.61 fw a couple days after the chip is released haha. Check out 3D's sticky, he has a link to some guy that might have created a downgrade for 2.5's, thats kinda interesting.

UP probally isn't a hoax, but since the new made psp's might have some issues as they have been bit modified.

Still, this should have been addressed b4 the chip was announced. Its dumb to have a mod chip that only works on a % of psp's

Obviously....but thats never gonna happen. No console manufacturer has wanted mods of any type, but it hasnt stopped anybody. Even the 360 is getting hacked to shreds, despite Microsoft saying it found all the vulnerabilites is the original Xbox.....
