Ok, ive got a old PS2, either 4th or 5th generation, don't remember. Just recently I purchased a network adapter and a 200 gig hard drive. I got the program to rip games onto the hard drive but some of them won't work, like Star Wars Battle Front; the first one. I believe the problem is that my PS2 isn't modded so it won't read the ripped game, or the burnt copy that I made.

I was looking and found the Action Replay Max as was wondering if this would work to play burnt games, ripped games on the hard drive, and burnt dvds. If this does work, would be it a good choice to buy it, or would I be better off getting a mod chip?

Which mod chip should I get? Play burnt games, ripped games to hard drive, burnt dvds. Thanks for your help.

I just checked the PS2, model SCPH-30001 R. So its either a V5 or V6.

dont bother with an AR max, just git a mod chip, if you have the cash get either a crystal chip 1.1, a matrix infinity, or a DMS 4. If your short on cash and just need a good chip get a ghost 2 from consolesource.com also dont try installing it yourself if you aren't good at soldering. hope that helps

agree with above. But the DMS4 Pro is the chip you need.
The others do not have all the hard drive features like the
DMS4 Pro does. With that you would not even need a seperate program to copy games to the hard drive, or load them because it is all built into the flash for the DMS4 Pro
Along with a cheat device so you would not need AR Max or Gameshark to play them with cheats.
the others listed are also good chips but since you have the hard drive i would suggest the DMS4 Pro, which yes is probably the most expensive of the chips listed. But that is the best advice i can give, the rest is up to you.

so would the solderless version be the same at the soldered version? DMS4 E.Z.I Pro. would this be good? I don't mind spending a bit of money on the chip, because i'll save it when i copy 50 plus games from blockbuster.

So sorry to ask but I would like to find out whether my modified SCPH-30006 R NTSC PS2 can play PAL games from UK. I'm currently having a TV which support PAL & NTSC.

Anyone out there with any advice? Please help. Thank you...

You have said that you have bought a network adapter, so I bet you wanna play your back-ups online.
Then i highly recommend the christal chip 1.1.
Because thats the only chip that can play back-ups online (without a patch).

thank you all
